Southern charm for one week straight--it doesn't get any better than this in Louisville. A magnificently restored mansion with dozens of authentically decorated rooms and period furnishings, along with a delightful and knowledgeable host (Rudy), his sociable pup (Maggie), and an energetic and accomplished young assistant (Jason)--what more could one ask for? Veranda? Check. Gardens? Check. Walking distance to Louisville's... More

A friend and I stayed here while we were in town for the Forecastle festival; all the hotels near the park were either booked or outrageously expensive. So I turned my search to bed and breakfasts, and found a room in the Culbertson Mansion that had two beds. The General Lawton suite was a great alternative to a hotel, and... More

The mansion itself is lovely...one can still imagine it in it's heyday. The street on which it's located was once called Millionaire's Row or something similar. Easy to understand after seeing it. Our room was the President's Room located on the east front, second floor, overlooking the driveway. LARGE room. The bathroom lavatory faucet and handles were swans! Probably original... More

The Culberston Mansion is a must when visiting Lousiville. We rented two rooms for the night and each had their own individual charm. The staff was extremely hospitable and greeting. They also let us explore the other rooms that were not occupied. Breakfast was amazing. I plan on staying there again if I ever return to Louisville.

The Culbertson Mansion was filled with antique charm! Our room was very comfortable, and our hosts made us feel welcome. Breakfast was delicious. We especially enjoyed Rudy's special bourbon sauce on our sweetened fruit. We had a wonderful stay in lovely Historic Louisville.

From the greeting (thanks, Jason!) and warm welcome (thanks Maggie and Rudy!) to the delicious breakfast the morning after, our stay at the Samuel Culberston Mansion was fantastic! We stayed in the President's Suite, and it was so romantic. The Victorian style was adorable, and the fact that the owner and main attendant were so attentive and friendly made our... More

Gorgeous is an understatement when describing the amazing décor of this historic home. Antiques cover every inch of every room, and the lighting treatments are the showpieces. However, all this beauty is eclipsed by the warmth and hospitality we felt every minute of our stay. We are looking forward to our next trip. Did I forget to mention the BOURBON... More

Sometimes you have to leave the cares of work and world behind you and take a step back into a place in time when life was not so hectic. I am sure 1897 had it's own problems, but The Culbertson Mansion is the perfect place for a girl's getaway these days! Our rooms were comfortable and beautifully decorated with antiques,... More

Everything was great: getting there was easy, parking was no problem, Rudy and staff were gracious, the SCM is stunning, our bedroom (The East Room) was lovely, the bath was old-world elegant, and breakfast both mornings were delicious. Then there were all the pluses: the bourbon sauce (+++++!), the grand piano Rudy graciously let me play since I am a... More

We stayed 3 nights (Memorial Day weekend) at the Samuel Culbertson Mansion Bed and Breakfast in Old Louisville. This was our first experience at a B & B and we really didn't know what to expect. Walking in the front door was like stepping back in time. It is easy to imagine life at the turn of the century in... More
