From the moment we walked through the door, it was a wonderful experience. The room was well appointed--keep in mind that it was decorated in Shaker fashion--the bed was comfortable and the staff was outstanding. We were on the second floor of the Trustee building. Since the dining room was directly below us, it got a little noisy late in... More

We visited on a misty day in May. The farm was bustling. We wandered the soggy fields and visited with the staff. Perhaps the weather set the mood, but we felt as if we had time traveled back a century or more. The shops were great, full of trinkets and such. The kitchen was a very pleasant surprise. A very... We were passing through and going to stop at Shaker Village so we figured we may as well stay over night there. In the photos look stark just one would expect of Shaker decor so we had trepidations about staying there. We stayed in the west family house, and our room was really nice. The beds are extremely comfortable and... More

If you long for some beautiful Kentucky scenery, take a trip to Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill. The grounds are immaculate and serenity abounds among the foliage and white picket fences. If the artist in you is thirsty for inspiration, you will be quenched. We spent one evening at the inn and enjoyed it immensely.

We stayed in one of the houses on the grounds. It was so peaceful and calm. The room was exactly as if we were living in the Shaker community and just came home to sleep. The view of the grass covered sloping lawn and green leaves on the trees added to the serenity of staying here. There was a house... More

We stayed here while traveling along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. The staff was exceptional! The history of the Shaker Village is alive and well, so glad we made this part of our travel plans. We stayed on 2nd floor in the Trustees Building (same as check in and restaurant) Was quiet and comfy, large room, coffee, tea with in room... More

I loved everything about this place. The trails were amazing and the docents were very knowledgeable. I startled a deer on a trail and he jumped into a pond to swim away. You don't get that at a hotel.

I wrote a review of the Shaker Village lodging and dining in 2011, giving the place two stars and suggesting that one consider other options. I recently stayed at the inn in connection with the Chamber Music Festival of the Bluegrass. It was clear to me that, since 2011, the management has made a concerted effort to improve the inn...
