Our room was on the third floor up a winding staircase. While pretty it was exhausting going up and down. The room was nice but not as clean as it should have been. It did have some interesting features. The staff was friendly but not overly so. The front desk was helpful to get us on a riverboat ride when... More

Our room in the East Family House had comfortable King size bed and was very spacious with a modern bathroom. The food served is wholesome and enjoyable. Our introduction to the Shaker lifestyle and beliefs was very interesting and well done, particularly the lady who sang and explained the power of music and dance in Shaker worship. The whole experience... More

Interesting history, lovely rolling hills, a myriad of Shaker history exhibits, personable crafts-persons and working farm in action, lovely gardens, a first class restaurant, and comfortable accommodations in the West Family building. Whisking my husband away for an overnight at Pleasant Hill has been on "the list" for 29 years, and in August I finally pulled it off. We arrived... More

We had a room with a King-size bed in the East Family building. It was comfortable and spacious. A little noise from people above but it didn't last long. I had no idea how many trails there were. Great place to walk. The hotel provides wonderful value. We especially enjoyed the fresh vegetables at dinner, straight from the adjacent garden.... More

We've traveled a lot around the world but this was an unexpected and delightful surprise: the beauty of the architecture, tall ceilings, soft colors, wood floors, cherry furniture. It was one of the most comfortable inns we've ever stayed at: where did they get those sheets? The bed and hand-made blankets, and comforter were extremely comfortable. We hope to take... More

At the last minute, my husband and I decided on a weekend adventure to Shaker Village over Labor Day. So glad we did! We enjoyed everything about it- the charming room, the delicious food, and the history of this place. Above all, it was so peaceful. We loved walking around the grounds and were very impressed with the gardens. The... More

We stayed at this living history farm on a whim and had a wonderful time. They were easily able to accommodate us at the last minute as we were driving through Kentucky. The reservation person did not hesitate to find us a wonderful room in a tin smith replica house on the property. We watched lambs walking around us as... More

We stayed in one of the buildings that was built in 1844. The room was nice and clean with simple decor just like the life style of the Shakers . Beautiful grounds and well kept. Staff was very helpful.

Beautiful setting. We stayed in the West Family Sisters' Shop. Room was simply but well furnished, large, and immaculately clean. Bathroom well arranged. Beds very comfortable (memory foam mattresses). You do have to handle your own luggage, so that may affect room choice (no elevators).

If you want a really good Shaker experience, go to Pleasant Hill, and eat at the main dining room and stay overnight. Breakfast buffet was excellent and so was our dinner the previous evening. This is a great place to learn about the Shakers.
