My husband and I visited the Shaker Village twenty years ago with our children and always hoped to go back. When we did we were delighted to find the place every bit as special as we remembered. We had a wonderful room in the 1811 Stone Building. It was on the first floor, across from a very comfortable common room... More

The Shakers led a simple life and the Inn gives you a delightful taste of that time. The buildings and grounds are preserved and restored, and the dining menu reflects the cooking of some time ago. We spent a long weekend here for a small conference and thoroughly enjoyed our time. Our room was in a Shaker building but with... More

My husband and I stayed here many years ago, and had always hoped to return, since it was a wonderful experience. I am happy to report that for us, our recent visit was just as lovely. The queen bed, spacious rooms, authentic wood floors--all made our room comfortable and pleasant. Since we traveled with friends, it was fun to have... More

Beautifully restored shaker village. Serene, calm, peaceful, excellent stay! Great food, plenty of it (not diet friendly but who cares!). Just a great place to visit for rest and relaxation, no party or bars just fyi, but for reading, walking, just being calm! The houses and grounds are beautiful the gift store dangerous full of beautiful handmade stuff. I can't... More

We deliberately diverted from the sameness of the chains along the interstate to enjoy a night at this unique historical and pastoral setting. If you want get outside of the ordinary, and experience American history while staying on site in a renovated nearly-200 year old Shaker community National Historic Site, this is your chance. We were fortunate to enjoy the... More

Enjoying many of the Shaker stories and building, I also hiked some of the forestland and savannas, and followed the stream, and found the beautiful waterfalls. Spring wildflowers change as the weather changes. The restaurant provides healthy, delicious food. Rooms vary in size, and usually would provide heat and a/c. With unusual spring weather this year, we lacked a/c and... More

The quiet and rustic feel of this place felt good. Our room was very large, had beautiful Shaker furniture, very friendly staff and welcoming. We had dinner at the Trustees' Office, several rooms for dining, again very simple but beautiful interior. The food was so, so good! The place gets your pace down, which is nice once in a while.... We spent a night in the Wash House Suite behind the East Family Dwelling with our 3 children. Having never visited the area before we weren't quite sure what to expect but were definitely intrigued. Checkin was a breeze and the helpful front desk staff clearly explained to my husband how to get to our suite and where to park... More

Great experience... we stayed in a family suite with my husband, 2 year old and my mother. Plenty of room for all and really comfy beds. We were curious if they would have TV-- they did, thank goodness. We got in around noon and toured around, took a hayride and then had dinner at the inn. Later we did one... More

We spent a rainy afternoon touring this site. It was really interesting even though it was spring and some of the buildings weren't open. We took a tour of one of the family buildings and were told a lot about how the Shakers lived. Our guide dressed in period clothing was great and I'm sure our tour lasted longer than... More
