We live in southeastern KY and have never been to the western side of the state, my wife loves lighthouses and I was on Goggle checking where the closest one was to our state and was surprised to find out that KY is one of only a few inland states that have a lighthouse, it is a five hour drive to Grand Rivers,KY , which I also had never heard of. It is a little resort town of 300 on the shores of Kentucky Lake, the largest man made lake in the eastern United States. Light House Landing Resort and Marina is THE show place of the town , it looks like it should be in New England, as you drive onto the property the office, boat rental, repair shop and sailing school are located to the right with some of the older cottages above them, the huge marina with 190 slips, mostly full with different length sailing yachts,a lot of them ocean going, the RV camp grounds and the newer cottages are on the left side on the marina on the hill side, this place is FAMILY OWNED and they are there... more
