We recently returned to Rough River Falls State Park for a couple of days on the lake. We stayed in one of the cabins, took advantage of the marina, and ate two of our meals at the lodge. I love state parks, because I enjoy escaping from this fast paced, everything has to be perfect and high techno world. RRF... More

We spent two nights here for Friday and Saturday nights. I will be as charitable as possible in this review, but my overall experience was not good. First, lets' cover the rooms. The photographs in the state park's web site, when you are looking at this lodge, while showing the rooms, does not match the reality rooms. They are wood... More

Area and facility good. I wish I could say the same for the people at the front desk. Very rude and mean, enough to make my stay unpleasant. Been on most state parks in Ky and I can say for sure i will not come back in this one.

To Giorgio C: Please accept my apologies for any rudeness and/or poor service that you experienced with my Front Desk personnel. That is not the way we normally do business here at the State Park. The Front Desk Supervisor and I have discussed your post and we will be dealing with it in our training. Again, my sincerest apologies to... More

This is our second time staying here in the cottages (1st visit 07/2014). We stayed in a deluxe cottage rather than the standard from last visit. This one was much more updated. Our family had such a great time. The interior is spacious and decorated appropriately, in my opinion. With 7 of us, that 2nd bath was priceless. I have... More

To Roberta C: Thank you for your Trip Advisor input. I am glad that you enjoyed your time at Rough River Dam State Resort Park. We appreciate your input with regards to linens service at the cottages. Our staff needs to do a more complete job of letting our guests know how to get the fresh towels, etc. that they... More

This is the second time to visit Rough River 1st time in a cabin and during winter. This time in lodge in the summer. Visit was in the middle of the week and not on weekend. I was surprised that there were not more people there. Nice pool area and grounds seem to be well maintained. I agree with earlier... More

To Shangri_la_Seeker: Thank you for your Trip Advisor post and thank you for staying at Rough River. You made a good point on the trees and undergrowth that obstructs our guests' lake views. We have to periodically cut back the growth and that process is underway. Your comments on our breakfast was welcome and on point. Again, we appreciate your... More

Bad : Room hadn't been vacuumed - Food crumbs on floor. Upholstery ripped in lodge chairs.Checkers broken in game room. Room AC very loud. Miniature golf course a wreck. Badly worn greens with multiple divots. Some of the hole signs actually rotted away and laying on ground. Trail could use some maintenance. Some cement walkways in bad shape. Some of... More

Thank you for taking the time to review our Lodge and Park. I deeply regret that your stay was not more pleasant. A guest should always expect a clean room and obviously we did not live up to our set standards. You also pointed out a number of deficiencies that we are in the process of correcting, such as sidewalks... More

We looked at cabin #204. My first impression was pieces of trash around the front door. It was like a garbage bag had broken and no one took the time to clean up the small pieces. We decided to stay in the lodge in room 245. It had a small balcony and a view of the lake. The room was... More

To Rob from Tennessee: I have used your observations about the cleanliness around your cottage to help our staff realize that it is not only the inside, but the outside of our accommodations that contribute to the guest experience. Thank you for taking the time to write your review. I am glad that you enjoyed the food and I hope... More

We went to Rough River Dam State Resort Park for a RC Fly In. The park is beautiful and the lake and surrounding area is spectacular. It is in a very rural area of Kentuky so it is isolated. This is both good and bad... The cottages are nice, and they are clean. They are a bit dated and need... More

Thank you for your review of our Lodge and Park. We are always working to improve and your comments will help us do so. I do regret your experience in our restaurant. The lodge rooms at Rough River Dam State Park are modest and need some updating but we had a great time. The beds are comfy and the rooms are clean and the bathrooms are quite small but the best thing is the private balconies and patios overlooking the lake. We arrived very late on a Wednesday and did not get... More

Worth staying. Rooms overlook the lake are are basic, but reasonably well appointed. Beads are comfortable. Bathrooms are terribly small, with the sink outside, but then it is a state park, not a luxury resort. The setting is fabulous. Friendly staff, passable food in dining room.
