We spent 6 nights in this hotel. We were with a baby of 7 m.o. We enjoyed our stay. Calm place, good service, good price too! It's nicely arranged by students, but you can see their professionality. It feels good to know that by staying here you support their study since most of them are underprivileged. No doubt, if I... More

The hotel has new and old buildings and we stayed in the old one. The room had a musky smell, some half dead ants and a cockroach on the floor when we arrived. The rooms in the new building should be fine according to another guest we talked to. The garden and the pool area is really nice. It's a... More

We enjoyed our stay at Suly, as you will see if you are reading these reviews the hotel is run by students at a local school who are training to work in the hotel industry. They are all extremely polite and really want to help you. We were greeted and helped often by a tall young man who was very... More

We only stayed here for two nights but I would have loved to stay longer and would definitely return. The staff were great, breakfast buffet was tasty and morning yoga class was fun! It is close to the hustle and bustle of Ubud town but nice and quiet, looking out over the paddy fields. The pool is very nice, relaxing... More

We did not make any reservation for our trip to Ubud since it was a go-show trip. When we open the web to see many options, we were surprised to see its price, as it is not that pricy for it has a beautiful view like other hotels and resort surrounding. When finally we found that it's located on street... More

Just got back from spending a week at Suly, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. The fact that the staff are all students from the connected school was lovely, and there was no compromise with service at all, they were in fact the most welcoming and hardworking staff I've come across at any hotel! The breakfast is GREAT,... More

We stayed at Suly Resort for two nights. It is in a lovely quiet location just out of Ubud. The gardens and common areas of this hotel are simply lovely. You can hear the lingering of mellow pipe/ flute music coming from the dining area and the relaxing trickeling of water coming from the numerous water fountains in the garden.... More

This hotel had very friendly service. The 'free' yoga was horrible, the instructor worked in reception and I was surprised no one was injured. While the place is out of town, it is not very quiet. There are lots of staff walking around and working on the gardens. The buffet breakfast is good.

I had an enjoyable stay at Suly with the exception of there not being wifi in any of the rooms. But the reception staff was very nice and allowed me to keep my laptop behind their desk while I went out for the day so I could load a few things. The service was really great all-around, and the students... More

After booking this place on agoda, we didn't expect the level of service we would receive. This place could easily justify raising their prices. The area inside the hotel is amazing and the staff are very friendly and helpful. There are two pools to utilize and the dinner was fantastic. We even tried the dance performance dinner and was pleasantly... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The name of the resort is based on a concept of the word "Suly“, which means many beautiful reasons. Suly Resort, Yoga and Spa is a fully functional resort with 62 rooms and cottages, restaurant, café, bar, swimming pools, yoga, Spa, art and cultural activities, tours, transport and other butler services. SULY RESORT, YOGA AND SPA is set amidst the 2.8 hectares of land surrounded by lush green rice paddies that enhances the serene beauty of the resort. Within its premises is a rich garden with all its flora creating ambiance of relaxation and rejuvenation. The resort offers 62 well designed rooms and cottages to cater guests from all levels and categories, from young backpackers to family vacation, couples getaways and honeymoons to group retreats and seminars. What’s unique about it is that Suly Resort is also a training ground for High School students that have been selected to attend for free due to the fact that they come from underprivileged families from remote villages mainly from Bali and the other islands of Indonesia. The Bali Global foundation gives these underprivileged children a great opportunity to become professionals in the fast-growing hospitality sector. Suly Resort, Yoga and Spa support Bali Global Foundation by operating a boarding school located in one of Suly properties in Bali, where High School education, room and board are provided for free. In return, the students take ownership of the resort by training in the various departments to attain an added set of trade skills while they attend High School. Suly Resort generates the funding to pay for the students lodging and education with its hotel operations, to make it fully self-sufficient without any monetary donations taken from external sources. The school prides itself in an ‘all for one philosophy’, taught to the students, everyone helps one another. In some cases the students have furthered their studies on a scholarship programs at University level. Upon graduation after gaining experience in the workforce many return to Suly and the Bali Global Foundation to share some of their new knowledge with the current students. The Resort also runs other enterprises which are created for the students to run. A laundry, a café, organic gardens where produce is sold in local markets. The money generated from these mini enterprises are paid out as a salary to hire graduate students and part of the income goes into the project of setting up more schools and projects of this kind in other areas of Indonesia. Suly is a friendly place with a genuine village feel and plenty of character. Best of all, one is surrounded by smiling grateful students who strive to provide you with service on par with five star resorts. Grateful for an opportunity in life to provide a better standard of living for themselves, their families and their community. If you are looking to make a difference in this world and be a witness to the amazing opportunities these teenagers are given, here is a place that welcomes your support with open arms. Come, visit and enjoy the Suly experience. A way to empower the less fortunate, is not by giving donations but by building skills. As the the saying goes, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.”. ... more   less
