I'm a frequent visitor to KY state parks, and this one was on my "bucket list"... Was pleasantly suprised since there's no particular natural attraction here, or so I thought. It turns out canoe rides are offered on the historic Licking River, and this is a wonderland for the Civil War history buff; Daniel Boone fought a mighty battle here and, in fact, lost his son. The hiking trails are beautiful and give a "you are there" experience as you retrace the pioneers' steps. A reproduction fort and info on both the buffalo trace and early 19th C health-giving springs edify... This was easy to reach, directly off Paris Pike (a lovely drive); great state park getaway without having to drive hours from town. Nice pool, too! Wooded views from the private balconies, and always a great dining room at these Kentucky state parks; visit soon. more
