This place may be one of the better places to stay in Bardstown but that's not saying much. This hotel needs some drastic updating. But I must also say it was clean and ready when we wanted to check in. The bed sheets on one of the queen beds was torn in at least two or three places. The breakfast... More

What a pleasure to come back. We last stayed here about 3 years ago - and have now seen how the name changed at the General Nelson. They used to be a Best Western, and even though they aren't part of a chain any longer, I still believe they're one of the best places in the area to stay. And... More

I've stayed here several times (including this weekend for the 2014 Bourbon Festival). They just recently left their affiliation with Best Western, but the service was just as friendly as always, and the staff very accommodating! I like to bring my own K-cups of coffee, and while the rooms do not have those machines, they are always more than happy... More

Spent five night here while doing the Bourbon Trail, among other things. Place is very convenient to downtown Bardstown and to good travel routes in the area. Staff was very friendly and accommodating to our queries about the area. Our room was very comfortable as were the beds. It used to be, up to recently, a Best Western. There are... More

Picked this hotel for two nights to save some cash. We were first given a room facing he main road. Right when we entered, a car with load music went by and I knew this would be a noisy room. I went back across to the office and asked if I could have a room in the back. I got... More

Me, my best friend and her three daughters were in dire need of a good place after an one night at Old Bardstown Inn which wasn't a thrilling experience for us. We liked this one better, the staff were accommodating. Free breakfast, free WiFi... Was glad to see a microwave and a mini fridge as well as a hair dryer.... More

Rooms need to be updated, they seemed to be as old as the hotel. The bathroom was very small and also needs a face lift. The room was quiet, the pool looked inviting. Breakfast was nice and there were quite a few options. Hot and cold choices too. The breakfast staff was nice.

This was a our second full week stay at the General Nelson. We arrived on a Friday afternoon, stayed the weekend prior to the week long event. I get so tired of people making blanket statements that something needs updating or isn't good without data or substance. Bathroom tiles and flat screen TVs do not a vacation experience make. I... Second time here and it was great. Check in smooth and such friendly ladies. Beds comfy..breakfast wonderful and spacious seating. Outside is cozy..pool is pretty warm on hot days though. Overall experience was great.

Not overly fancy, clean rooms. Breakfast is OK, better when not crowded. Had to have an extremely late check out due to medical issues, staff bent over backwards to accommodate us. I have stayed in this hotel on 3 separate occasions now, and will return whenever I go to Bardstown.
