We stayed here for the night and it was a good choice. This location is not new, but has been properly renovated and is operated by younger people. We slept on the back side and it was peaceful and very quiet. There were some constuction people staying there, but they were very nice and departed early. The continental breakfast was nice, plus restocked... more

This place is really a nice place - I didn't see any of the run-down-ness cited in the earlier reviews. Only one thing marred our stay. There is a large party room in the center of the back of the complex. If there is a party going on expect two things: No place to park near your room on that... more

I have to admit, after reading the reviews about how the hotel was outdated and reminiscent of the 1950's, I was really geeked to stay there. I don't know what I'm missing, though, it was just a regular hotel room. Desk, dressers, recliners, a TV, a bed... Actually, the bed had one of those astronaut foam mattresses. It was heavenly!... more

Definitely 50s, and like many of those born during that decade, getting a bit frayed around the edges. Very nice staff. I don't mind these motels with the rooms around a courtyard/parking area, but there is nothing exceptional about this one and most are quite a bit cheaper. Bardstown must be a swinging town given the prices - but it... more

upon arivial I was a little miffed to see what I was not expecting. The 50's style motor inn was out of the days of RT66. The motel is very out dated and is sorely in need of a total remodel. The rooms are very old looking and the tv's and furniture and in deperate need of replacement. I had... more

Best Western General Nelson [www.generalnelson.com] is an older styled "motor inn". This however is for those who wish to go "retro" while enjoying the comforts of the 21st century. All rooms have been updated with modern lavs and bathrooms. Our king size bedroom [non smoking] was furnishsed with a mini fridge, coffee maker and a new wide screen cable tv. Our... more

Our family (Mr, Mrs and adult daughter) stayed in Room 101 for 2 nights (mid Sept 2008) and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Two comfortable queen beds with ok pillows, a compact bathroom with a really powerful shower. Plenty of hot water and lots of fluffy bath and hand towels. Good adjustable a/c unit. WiFi access readily available in-room. Big TV with... more

We stayed at the General Nelson Best Western for several days recently while we were touring the bourbon distilleries. They could not have been nicer. We had a clean room, nice pool, and friendly people. We were able to walk to town for dinner, and it was only a short drive to other attractions. more

We stayed the night of August 3, 2007 and found the motel to be very well kept up. The room was very spacious, clean, and did not have any funny smells. We used the pool and it was great--just the right temperature and very clean. The pool area was also very clean--much nicer than some other motels that we've spent... more

Lots of smells here. Hotel is downwind of all the distilleries around the town, and the smell of "mash" is a little much. Room inside smelled as though someone had thrown up - interesting... next night we came down with the stomach flu. Blankets/Spreads showed some stains. Breakfast was below average in available choices. My opinion - $70 - $80... more
