Not overly fancy, clean rooms. Breakfast is OK, better when not crowded. Had to have an extremely late check out due to medical issues, staff bent over backwards to accommodate us. I have stayed in this hotel on 3 separate occasions now, and will return whenever I go to Bardstown.

My friends and I decided to do the bourbon trail and thus needed to find three inexpensive hotels to stay in each night. This hotel was our 2nd stop and out of the three we stayed in, it was the best. The location was great (a short walk to downtown Bardstown) and the outside area was really nice (pool, lots... More

We decided to stay at bardstown for our anniversary we chose the best western from other review. It was clean, front desk helpful and friendly. The room was clean and updated. Beds were comfortable and a decent size bathroom. Just what you expect for the price. Can't say anything great and can't say anything negative. You get what you pay... More

Sticky bathroom floor and smoky smell in the room was a turn off. Pool looked great, breakfast was good. The people were nice. I was close to downtown and a good restaurant. I would not stay there again.

In a good locations but the room was sub par. Odor in room was unbearable. Door lock was falling apart. When reported no solution was offered. Nice breakfast. Nice people in the breakfast area. Many places in the area to stay at, this hotel was rated number 2 of all hotels in area. Wondered what other hotels would be like.

The General Nelson is a fine hotel. It has a nice lounge area and pool and it's shaped like a motel. Not your typical large block building. It has really interesting decor with quirky wood furniture in the lobby. The room we had was overall fine but it felt kind of damp in there, like the humidity had crept in,... More

This is a nice hotel, the grounds are pretty and the room was quite comfortable. There aren't a whole lot of lodging options in Bardstown relative to the number of tourists who come through, so hotels are more expensive than you will find in other Kentucky towns. Here, at least you will get your money's worth.

The Bardstown Best Western General Nelson is our favorite motel. We stayed there before and we'll be back. Love visiting Bardstown and staying in the General Nelson. When we travel to other cities, we always trying to book a room at a Best Western--it is always our first choice. We'll see you again, Bardstown--and the General Nelson.

We enjoyed our three-night stay at the General Nelson Best Western. The rate was right in our price range, the location was convenient and the grounds were pretty. The room was standard, but clean and the shower was awesome - great water pressure, great shower head and instant hot water. We especially appreciated the breakfast - good variety, including for... Nicely maintained older hotel - close to all the attractions. Beautiful and relaxing grounds with several quiet and comfortable places to sit and enjoy the evening air - a beautiful location, the pool was enjoyable and and the staff friendly - breakfast was adequate for our needs. The beds were VERY comfortable!!!
