Attentive from the moment of our arrival, Christian & Brigitte were excellent hosts. Our spacious room was on the second floor with a wonderful view down the valley- ensuite are double wash basins, bath and shower, with a separate toilet (a thoughtful touch). The bed was comfortable with expensive bed-linen, a large antique wardrobe contained all of our clothes, there... More

Brigitte and Christian run a really wonderful house. The building has been very tastefully renovated with excellent attention to style. Lots of interesting pieces. The main living room has a huge fireplace , comfy sofas and big stone flagstone floor. Meals are delicious and it is a treat to share these with other guests and the hosts. Walks are available... What could be nicer than an extremely comfortable room in a very interesting renovated old farmhouse at the end of a road in very attractive countryside. Then in addition there is the welcome and hospitality from Brigitte and Christian, the pre dinner aperos and the dinner "en commun" around the table in the kitchen, with a meal prepared with great... As you walk through the door of La Roussiere the house almost seems to breathe 'welcome'. This lovingly restored farmhouse captures the spirit of warmth and homeliness which hosts Christian and Brigitte extend to you, their guests. From the convivial pre-dinner aperitif with the family and other guests where stories and experiences are shared and all are politely patient with... More

Our third stop in the Auvergne - this time in the Cantal department - was spent at La Roussière (2 nights in April 2013). After a stunning drive through the Parc naturel régional des Volcans d'Auvergne - and a visit to the very picturesque village of Tournemire (one of the 'plus beaux villages en France') - we arrived at La... We have spent 2 nights at la Roussiere, this was the 5th stage of a road trip across France and we really wished we had planned to stay longer in this very comfortable and welcoming "maison d'hotes". La Roussiere is the last house at the end of the road, surrounded by fields away from any kind of pollution. Christian and... More

We spent two weeks at this haven of peace and tranquility in the Cantal. From our day of arrival until our departure Christian and Brigitte made every effort to ensure our holiday was perfect. Our room was spacious, immaculately clean and furnished and, like the rest of this beautiful old farmhouse, full of charm and character. Breakfasts were delicious with... More

Come to the Cantal; Stay at la Roussiere. This is our second stay with Brigitte and Christain. Our first was last summer and we have not waited long to return. We will do so again. They are charming, attentive and interesting hosts who were very helpful in suggesting good walking routes and even a local course in foraging which was very... More

We had been looking forward to staying here this June as we had tried to do in the past but La Roussiere was always full and we were not disappointed. Three of us stayed in the suite on the second floor and were very comfortable. The house has been renovated to a very high standard and the decor is perfect... More

We don't usuallty go online about our personal holiday experiences, but this place and Brigitte & Christian deserve all the praise! A beautiful location which offers so much, even for foot-sore guests unable to go hiking as planned. Christian was very helpful in suggesting several itiniaries for us to spend most enjoyable days in this scenic area of France. The... More
