My spouse & I went to Hays for 2A State Volleyball and were excited to be able to obtain a suite at late notice. The "suite" had very obviously been 2 rooms at one time & they apparently had to turn it into one suite to be able to call themselves an "Inn & Suites". To our knowledge there is... more

July 2007 found my husband and me not being able to keep our hotel reservations further down I-70 so we saw the Hampton Inn sign and stopped. The rate was very favorable for the property. One can see that this is an older motel with the drive up to the door style rooms - which has its advantages and also... more

The reviews stating that this is a rundown, unclean, low-end motel are true. As a platinum Hilton Honors member, I must admit I was shocked that Hampton places their generally reputable name on the sign. Stay anywhere but here. I would suggest you keep driving and by-pass Hays, KS altogether. more

It's not the worst, but it clearly doesn't belong in the class of other Hampton Inn's I've stayed in (about 8 - 10 in all) across the US. It feels more like a low-end Days Inn, with flies coming in and out of the room, headlights shining into the rooms, old comforters, run-down looking sinks, and so on. I'm not... more

This place is gross. There was a dead bug on the carpet. The room was filthy. Obviously, they haven't vaccumed since the fall! Stay away! We were even afraid to eat the free breakfast. Fairfield Inn across the highway, is very nice, choose that one! more

We also had a problem with those black water bugs in our room, it was gross. We tried to deal with it, but once it was just too much we called the front desk and switched rooms. They were extremely nice about it and the second room was great. Very clean and nice and no bugs! The breakfast was great... more

If you get a room on the first floor, expect to sleep with waterbugs. Indeed, I've stayed at many Hamptons and Embassy Suites, and I'm surprised this hotel is allowed to call itself a Hampton. (In fact, we traveled on to a Hampton in Pueblo, CO that was quite nice!) The beds are not the new pillowtops, the bathrooms have... more

We stayed here during a road trip across country. Upon entering Hays there are hotel signs for lots of hotels advertising pools and many amenities for low prices. We pulled into the Hampton Inn parking lot and wondered why we chose it. We began looking at our AAA book again before checking in. After a few minutes, we decided to... more

About what I would have expected from a hotel in Hays, but not up to what I expect from a Hampton. The first annoyance was calling the hotel directly to see if I could get a better rate than the one I got at Hampton's website. The rate they quoted me over the phone was $25 higher than online. Checkin... more

The Hampton Inn Corp has done a good job in achieving a friendly and capable front desk staffs at just about all of their properties. Hays is no exception. There is a good staff. However, the hotel is long overdue for a redo. Room was just so so. Door had wide gaps around it. I suspect it would take a... more
