My nephew and I stayed at the Sage Inn on a Friday night coinciding with Fried Chicken night at the Sommerset Hall Cafe directly across the street. We were on a research mission tracing the steps of our ancestors who once lived in the Dover, KS area. I slept in the same room that George Armstrong Custer once slept in.... More

Several members of my extended family converged in Topeka, Kansas for a family reunion. My aunt, who lives in Topeka, suggested staying at the Sage Inn instead of a hotel, even though we'd be farther away from the action. What a great suggestion! We took over the entire inn, and there was not an ounce of regret. Each room is... More

True to the other reviews, the owners offered up just the right amount of hospitality and privacy for a Bed & Breakfast. We were celebrating our anniversary, so they gave us a complimentary bottle of champagne. Breakfast was outstanding! The room was clean and charming, with a modern sleep-number bed. They have a 1950's tandem bicycle which we rode through... More

We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the Sage Inn in Dover, Kansas, and although we live about 20 minutes west, it was as if we had stepped back in time. The historic stage coach inn is made from native stone and decorated as was appropriate for the mid 1800s. We arrived later in the evening, after having had dinner in... More

The Benjamins have done an outstanding job with this B&B. Dover is a tiny town, but it is only 15 miles from Topeka and I-70. The owners went out of their way to accommodate us, including providing a bottle of wine because there was no place near to buy some. The property is lovely and the breakfast was excellent. Our... This is actually a bed and breakfast, situated just west of Topeka. We have stayed here twice -- a week each time. The inn was the original stagecoach stop where the Oregon Trail and Santa Fe trails met. It is out in the country and full of character. The hosts are friendly and helpful. The breakfasts are bountiful and delicious.... More
