We stayed just the one night here in the officers quarters as a last minute decisions and we were so glad we did, it was one of the highlights of the trip. The room had a lovely fireplace, kitchen facilities including breakfast waiting for us when we checked in. We were able to access the family museum and take a... More

We just had a week in Tasmania, and the highlight of the trip was our 2 night stay at the Cascades Colonial cottages. My husband and I stayed with our 2 children, in the 'married officers cottage'. This is a beautifully restored spacious 2 bedroom cottage, fully equipped kitchen, bathroom full laundry and a very cosy lounge room - with... More

We stayed for 2 nights and had a lovely stay. The open fire was romantic and being able to cook breakfast and dinner was wonderful. The views of the bay were breath taking and the history to the buildings was unreal. Great for couples for a weekend get-away.

Stayed one night and this accommodation melded beautifully with the history of the surrounding area of Port Arthur. There is ample evidence of past times in this small area alone, complimented by a small museum (you are given your own key for access) which has been restored and catalogued by the family. We stayed in the "Workshop" which was really... More

This location is a little gem. The cottages have a fire place all ready and set to go - one just has to add a match. They offer toast and cereal in the room for breakfast. The location is both mystical and beautiful...it doesnt take much imagination to work out what the place must of been like back in 1841.... More

This former convict jail has been lovingly and carefully restored, and furnished accordingly. Our unit (Officer's quarters) was charming, comfortable and well appointed. The setting is idyllic; so peaceful and pretty. The continental breakfast isn't flash, but there are adequate facilities to cook your own hearty breakfast if you wish. The only downside - we were only there for one... More

We stayed at this great place in January 2013. The accommodation is called the "Workshop" This cottage is a few meters away from the front and has great views. You really have to be there to believe it. All of the accommodation has been beautufully restored, and modern comforts have been added on the inside. Koonya is a quiet country... More

There is something special about staying in this restored historical site. Whether it is the wild blackberries that we picked and ate until our tongues were purple, the cosy homely one bedroom accommodation with its cosy fire and port or the beautiful water views and coastal walk - I felt at home and content, relaxed and impressed during our two... Situated a short distance to Port Arthur site , an ideal place to stay when visiting this historical and beautiful penisular . One can't help feeling the history and past when first entering the Cascade settlement of convict cottages. Our 2 bed cottage was across the road from the other cottages but quite peaceful with a daily afternoon visit from... More

We really enjoyed our overnight stay in the Officers Quarters of the B & B. Our welcome was pleasant and helpful. The property has been restored sympathetically and is a very interesting place to stay. The one bed suite was comfortable furnished with a very useable kitchenette where we prepared dinner. The log fire was a real treat. The night... More
