It's exactly what you expect from a recently built Hampton Inn. Close to I-80, I-35, I-235 and West Des Moines' business district. Staff was friendly. Room was tidy and neat. Breakfast was the standard fruit, danishes, cereal, and bland eggs.
Plenty of restaurants within driving distance along University Drive to the north or along Jordan Creek Pky to the south. Not much within walking distance.
