Visited on Sunday for a roast dinner, huge slices of meat, enormous Yorkshire puddings abd huge bowls of vegetables including cauliflower cheese! Nice to have the rugby on silently in the background in the bar, my only issue would be we had to sit in the bar and it was very, very busy- I guess that is a good sign... More

There were 8 of us dining here and it has to be said that the surroundings are lovely. I'd heard excellent things about the food and, in the main, I was pleased with my dining experience. One of our party had the calf's liver but could not eat it as it was very tough and veiny, but they took this... More

we stayed in a double room, which was just like a chalet, it was warm and comfy with a small bathroom attached, only negative was the towels were a little hard.tv is in a awkward place if you like to watch telly in bed, however there is a day bed/seat to sit on and watch if you want to. The... More

This a delightful place to visit. The drinks in the bar with an open fire was great. The food in the restaurant was good and well served. There was a very good wine list. All in all we had a very enjoyable evening.

Busy pub on a Friday night with locals having a drink lovely and nice dining area and good atmosphere. Had the braised blade of beef with goose fat roasted chateau potatoes, butternut squash puree, salt baked carrots and dark beer sauce. Excellent and outstanding for a pub meal!!! For dessert, the Sticky toffee pudding with butterscotch sauce and vanilla ice... More

Went for Sunday lunch. good menu with plenty of choices. We all had something different, starters and mains. Food was delicious and well presented. The belly pork was the best I have had. Michaela the waitress was very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble but without overcrowding us. It was a nice relaxing atmosphere and we were able to... More

Went to dinner here on Christmas Eve with my husband. Lovely setting not very busy, just right really, so you would expect good service. Not the case. The food was fine but we had to wait ages for our main meal and then they forgot the dessert menu - all in all a bit slap dash! We thought we might... More

This is a slightly strange establishment. The rooms are chalet style and detached from the main ( pub) building . Whilst the setting is very english and feels very rural, the effect is a little like an American motel. The rooms are ok. They are clean and tidy, but the bathroom needed maintenance in ours. They are not numbered and... More

We visited the Black Horse with 2 very good friends of ours, looking forward to some hearty food in very pleasant surroundings. Having read some of the reviews, we were looking forward to it very much indeed. Sadly, it left us with a "bad taste in the mouth". These days, there are many pubs that try and emulate the "fine... Stayed here with friends to celebrate a birthday and was our second time here. The rooms are clean and beds are comfy. The pub is a typical country pub and has a quaint charm. The food is amazing and staff are friendly. We cant wait to stay again.
