I visited Elephant Motel, Same, July 2oth, 2014 and spent two nights there. To be honest food was excellent, service was excellent, rooms were very clean. I was amazed with internet in the rooms and the surroundings. What a surprise!! And it is free!! No hotel in Same has internet. Any educated person who loves communication should stay there. I visited... More

Someone mentioned Same to me just now and I said "I have been there-I stayed at the Elephant Motel". I then went on here and saw that I had never reviewed it. Huh. Better late than never. I stayed here in 2009 while visiting Mkomazi. There was nowhere else to stay except a camp by the river and I cannot... More

I would advise rather driving through to Moshi than staying here. It seems outrageously priced for what you get. Camping for $10, wow I can find a bed for cheaper than that in most places. Apparently it's $40 a room. That seems very steep to from what I saw but I feel I'm only justified to comment on camping. Run... More

The Elephant Motel and Campsite was very mediocre to say the least. The campsite is unfortunately situated on clay and as such is very muddy. There is no electrical outlet (there ia light) and no water source on the sites. The bathrooms are very run down. The 10 US dollars per person seems excessive given that most backpackers don`t charge... More

The hotel is OK if you're just passing through. It's just off the main Dar-Moshi road and there isn't much else around about it. The rooms all need upgrading but it was cheap (around £40 per room for dinner bed and breakfast as residents of TZ). The beds had mosquito nets. The food was good. There were monkeys running around... More

I've stayed here twice - both times on the way to Pangani, and as previous contributors have said - it's ideally located for a stop over following a late afternoon get away from Arusha. The rooms are very clean, it's very quiet and there is a relaxing garden outside. The restaurant is good, the service is excellent and the staff... More

First of all, there are some misleading things about this listing. Trip Advisor insists that a region be included in the locations. Unfortunately, anything inside of Kilimanjaro Region is automatically listed as inside Kilimanjaro National Park. This is a few hours away from the national park. It is near Gonga in Same District (pronounced SAH-may) in Kilimanjaro Region. Secondly, the... More

Ive stayed here several times on my way to Pangani as its roughly the halfway point from Arusha to the beach, and early starts from the motel get you to the beach early morning. Its close to the National Park, the food is good, the rooms are modest and comfortable, and the staff are helpful. I will continue to visit!!

We stayed at the Elephant Motel on a small cross country trip in Tanzania on our way to a voluntary project. The reason we stopped at the motel was to be close to Mkomazi National Park. The national park is rather new and has very little in the way of tourism. They do however have some great conservation work going... More

Elephant Motel offers good value for money. The rooms are very reasonably priced and the location in Same town just 6 km from the entry gate to Mkomazi National Park makes the hotel a very convenient base for exploring the park. Mkomazi was recently (2008) gazetted as a National Park and the infrastructure in the park is not yet very... More
