This beautifully restored Frank Lloyd Wright hotel is a gem. It's right across from the a park that takes up a full block. The hotel has a bunch of turns so you feel like you're in a maze which makes it more fun. The parking is all outdoor (I think?), so you have to carry your stuff outside. Wonderful furnishings... Consider me a rather large fan (how large? About 200lbs) of this hotel. Besides the obvious-the magnificent architecture and historic significance, the first rate furnishings including genuine Wright designed furniture, as well as Stickley pieces and Teco and Van Briggle Art Pottery, the beautiful park view from my room, and the very comfortable, if a little cozy room, there is... I have long been a fan of Frank Lloyd Wright architecture and design. I had no idea that Mason City had restored this hotel designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. Looking for a place to stay on a long drive to Minneapolis, we discovered this online. What a great job the community has done raising money to restore the hotel for... More

Stayed one night and it was a great experience. The staff were able to answer questions about the architectural design and tell us little details that were important. Our room was a little small by today's standards, but excellent use of space. Comfortable beds, modern shower, etc.

Tyler gave us a warm welcome when we checked in. So pleased to be able to help keep this historic treasure around for a long time. They have done a terrific job of restoring and maintaining all of the Frank Lloyd Wright touches. Free off street parking, wifi, the rooms are not overly large, but they are comfortable. Heated bathroom... More

Thanks, Donald, for the very nice review you posted. One of the restoration challenges was to maintain the design, dignity and ambiance FLW Intended and while, in fact, some of the ’not overly large’ guest rooms, are with few exceptions, twice as large as the originals. The low ceilings in the check in area, the original flooring in the skylight... More

We really enjoy historic hotels and looked forward our visit to the Historic Park Inn. They've done a wonderful job on the restoration, we're Frank Lloyd Wright fans so we had a great time. It's not perfect but, a far better stay than a sterile chain. It's clean, comfortable and friendly and the staff takes pride in this gem. We... More

Love this hotel ... the staff, rooms, history, layout, food, bar, are all fabulous. Most recent visit, however, introduced me to their new atomizer-spread "lobby scent", which is over-whelming, eye-burning, and just plain gross. It is supposed to conjure up the 1920's, instead it conjures a strong desire to run away. I am ever-so-hopeful the stink is gone when I... More

This has to be one of my very favorite hotels. It's really a beautiful place. If you enjoy historic buildings this place is a must! I want to do a little stay-cation in Mason City just to enjoy this place again! They really put thought into every little thing in the hotel. My favorite part were the lights! You had... More

This hotel is simply stunning. The attention to detail in the HPI's design and service is amazing. I had a pleasant conversation with every single hotel employee we encountered. This treasure is only two hours south from the Twin Cities two hours north from Des Moines and it is certainly worth a two hour trip. Our room was reasonably priced... More

The most unique place I have ever stayed. Step back in time to this Frank Lloyd Wright hotel. Beautiful accommodations and a fabulous restaurant. Decor is all authentic. At the restaurant, the banana fritters are awesome!
