My son and I stayed here while settling him into a local college. The price is more than the local chain hotels but worth every dime. The hotel provides a written, self guided tour if you are there when a docent led tour is unavailable. The self guided tour was perfect for acquainting us to the FLW features. The staff... More

Great place to stay for a weekend getaway. Very unique and inviting building. Great restaurant. Variety of low impact things within walking distance of the hotel - easy walk to the Glen Rock & Rock Crest neighborhood and the art museum.

We spent only one night at this hotel, but what a glorious experience to stay in the only remaining hotel in the the world by Frank Lloyd Wright! The hotel is a beautiful example of Wright's late Prairie Style with lovely furnishings. We were up-graded to a large room overlooking the park, but I'm quite sure that even without such... More

We found the HPI hotel in Mason City, IA by luck when traveling over the Labor Day weekend. As the only surviving hotel designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, it was an interesting find. While the rooms are not very large, the hotel was recently upgraded so the furnishings were modern and very functional. We spent some time exploring and photographing... More

This is a very nice hotel, and Mason City is a delightful place to visit. Of course having been designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, it is old. It has been very nicely renovated, in 2010. But if you are more than 6' tall, you may have to duck here and there around the property. The halls are not designed like... More

The hotel is very well done much better than most restoration venues. Attention to detail is evident. My expectations for dinner in the park inn restaurant were very low, it is understated to say that I was pleasantly surprised. Very happy I made the effort to have the experience of staying here

Fabulous stay at this beautifully restored Frank Lloyd Wright hotel. All the lovely amenities a modern traveler loves along with getting to stay in a historic masterpiece of a building made for a wonderful stay. Book early for the Park View rooms, they are worth the price and do have a meal at the restaurant, it's a treat of the... More

My 4 sisters, mom, and I travelled here for my mom's birthday. The architecture is stunning, the rooms, though small, we're very comfortable and had beautiful finishes and high end amenities. We had so much fun exploring the hotel and Mason City. Our favorite activity was sipping wine on the front terrace overlooking the park. The staff could not gave... More

I stayed at this hotel which was one of Frank Lloyd Wright's hotels. The hotel has been redone and it was fantastic. The bathroom floor was heated. Please explore the entire hotel and walk all the floors and staircases. The restaurant in the hotel also was top notch.

A truly fantastic experience particularly for FLW fans. Everything about the hotel was first rate. Excellent and accommodating staff who was very knowledgeable about the hotel and history. My room was large with high tech features. Walking around takes you to a 'different place and time'; very relaxing. Restaurant was excellent.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Historic Park Inn Hotel, together with City National Bank, of Mason City Iowa were designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as a dual purpose building and completed in 1910. The design greatly influenced architecture in Europe and is as striking today as it ever was. The Park Inn Hotel is the last Wright designed hotel in the world, and has undergone a nearly 20 million renovation; the restoration of the distinctive brick and terra-cotta façade as well as art glass windows has restored the Prairie School building to a functional hotel. The interior, while renovated into a contemporary hotel, has public areas and guest rooms restored as closely to Wright's design as possible. Art glass and much else designed by Wright remains. Public area furnishings are period-style and include reproduction Robie House Lights, reproductions of the Mercury statues Richard Bock and Wright designed for the bank, and reproductions of the barrel chairs Wright designed for the bank directors' room. We invite you to come and stay with us in the center of the many area attractions Mason City has to offer. ... more   less
