Walking through the lobby/halls of this hotel and then seeing my room brought tears of joy to my eyes. Every detail was done in the tradition of Frank Lloyd Wright's design. Great care had been taken in having modern amenities such as large screen televisions and ample size bathrooms without compromising the integrity of this historic building. At every turn,... More

Met friends here for a quick Frank L. Wright fix and whole experience was exceptional. Hotel is beautifully restored (2 of us had the one- of- a kind suite) which was fabulously appointed - including a VERY comfortable sleeper sofa (twin bed). All the amenities one would expect plus! (A leather case for the remote). Staff was knowledgeable about the... More

We have visited Mason City a number of times in the past, but have never been able to stay at the Historic Park Inn because they were booked solid. This time we planned ahead and secured a room for three nights. The hotel offers a great deal of visual history, has a great restaurant and bar and the beds are... More

It is not very often that we have chance to sleep in a museum. In our most recent trip to Midwest, is exactly what we did. The Historic Park Inn Hotel in Mason City, Iowa is the last remaining hotel that was designed and built by architect Frank Lloyd Wright. The entire experience was absolutely wonderful. From the moment we... More

I've wanted to stay here ...couldn't get in...finally booked in a timely matter and apparently messed the time incorrectly. Well, I don't know how and I feel bad that someone else got my smaller bed...but my 6'4 hubby and I finally got to enjoy our king bed, dinner and stay here for my birthday. We both travel, so it was... More

The ambiance and service is excellent. We have visited Falling Water and Taliesin West and definitely felt surrounded by architectural history. Stay in the historic suite if it is available- and eat your complimentary breakfast on the terrace---lovely.

We were visiting a friend in Mason City and could not pass up the oppportunity to stay at a "living memorial" to Frank Lloyd Wright. We cannot really add anything to what others have said regarding the restoration and features of this historic property, but try to make reservations early, if possible, as historic and architectual groups convene here, making... Beautifully refurbished and rehabbed Frank Lloyd Wright hotel in Mason City Iowa, well worth the trip from the Twin Cities to Mason City. We took advantage of the docent tour of the hotel and enjoyed every minute. The rooms were beautifully furnished in accordance with the Prairie School of Architecture. The town offers a walking trip that include additional homes... More

We stayed here with friends on our way to Des Moines and had a terrific experience. Make sure to sign up for the docent led tour! We dined at their restaurant and the food and service was outstanding. The only negative is that the furniture in the rooms is shop worn and needs replacement.

We highly recommend this place! It is worth anyone's visit. The restaurant was excellent. The service was perfect. We ate on the balcony listening to Friday Night Music in the Park. What a treat! The hotel exceeded any of our expectations. The details in the renovation were spot on. We took the tour of the hotel and learned so much.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Historic Park Inn Hotel, together with City National Bank, of Mason City Iowa were designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as a dual purpose building and completed in 1910. The design greatly influenced architecture in Europe and is as striking today as it ever was. The Park Inn Hotel is the last Wright designed hotel in the world, and has undergone a nearly 20 million renovation; the restoration of the distinctive brick and terra-cotta façade as well as art glass windows has restored the Prairie School building to a functional hotel. The interior, while renovated into a contemporary hotel, has public areas and guest rooms restored as closely to Wright's design as possible. Art glass and much else designed by Wright remains. Public area furnishings are period-style and include reproduction Robie House Lights, reproductions of the Mercury statues Richard Bock and Wright designed for the bank, and reproductions of the barrel chairs Wright designed for the bank directors' room. We invite you to come and stay with us in the center of the many area attractions Mason City has to offer. ... more   less
