Stayed at hotel in February. The hotel was fun to explore and soak in the history go this one and only of its kind. The staff was very nice. The night time guy should keep his cell phone calls to him self about tonight's party. The Resturant is very nice 5 star look but 2 star meal. I was so... More

Very nice place to visit with wonderful service. The front desk service was like staying at a 4-star hotel in a large city. Very friendly and helpful with restaurant suggestions and service. Why can't every hotel be this way? What a joy! Top notch restoration from my perspective. I'm not an expert by any means but I totally enjoyed the... More

Very beautiful hotel with lots of history. We spent a lot of time exploring the hotel and reading about its past. Nice room, a little small, but clean. Comfortable bed with soft sheets. Nice big TV. Radiant heat floor in bathroom was a plus. Some drawbacks were: bathroom door would not close due to settling, but door could be sanded/planed... More

My husband and I were lucky enough to get a tour of the hotel as the renovations were starting. This is the first chance we have had to stay since it was completed. It is absolutely gorgeous! The staff are so friendly and we were welcomed by everyone. If you are able to get here early enough, wander around and... More

Dear Tombow, We are lucky enough to have the privilege of having a guest of the hotel having seen the before and after and develop an appreciation for the love and care that was the reconstruction. We are even luckier that you took the opportunity to share that experience on Trip Advisor and we thank you. Yes, there were some... More

My husband & I enjoy Frank Lloyd Wright architecture, I surprised my husband for his birthday by planning a trip to Mason City . So many interesting nooks & crannys in the hotel to sit & read . I LOVED the heated bathroom floor in the room. The player piano was fun. We had a pre dinner beer in the... More

We had our wedding at the HPI--it was a very small ceremony, but the ballroom would have been appropriate for a larger wedding as well. We absolutely loved it--the food was delicious from the attached restaurant, the staff was incredibly accommodating, and we had a perfect day! I would recommend this hotel for any type of stay--it's very unique and... More

My wife and I are Frank Lloyd Wright enthusiasts having visited many sites from Pennsylvania to Arizona. What a delight to be able to stay in of his creations. We spent two nights at the Historic Park Inn in Mason City in January and have reservations to return in August. Be sure to take the organized tour with one of... More

Customer service was splendid. Close proximity to restaurants and shopping. Size of the room and bathroom were desirable, especially the Jacuzzi tub. I loved the historical finishes and the piano playing made you feel like you were living the good life in the 40's.

This truly is the only remaining Frank Lloyd Wright designed hotel – so for that reason alone you should make a reservation, as these treasures must be supported. However, aside from that, you will have a delightful stay. We have stayed in most of the room configurations and, although some are roomier than others, we have loved every stay. The... More

If you are unfamiliar with FLW, this is a great introduction to his designs and quirky personality. The hotel was been lovingly restored and is just stunning. My suite used to be two rooms, they were very small. There are lots of sharp angles and he clearly believed that slim was better. The bed and pillows were excellent. The shower... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Historic Park Inn Hotel, together with City National Bank, of Mason City Iowa were designed by American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as a dual purpose building and completed in 1910. The design greatly influenced architecture in Europe and is as striking today as it ever was. The Park Inn Hotel is the last Wright designed hotel in the world, and has undergone a nearly 20 million renovation; the restoration of the distinctive brick and terra-cotta façade as well as art glass windows has restored the Prairie School building to a functional hotel. The interior, while renovated into a contemporary hotel, has public areas and guest rooms restored as closely to Wright's design as possible. Art glass and much else designed by Wright remains. Public area furnishings are period-style and include reproduction Robie House Lights, reproductions of the Mercury statues Richard Bock and Wright designed for the bank, and reproductions of the barrel chairs Wright designed for the bank directors' room. We invite you to come and stay with us in the center of the many area attractions Mason City has to offer. ... more   less
