We stayed three nights at the Thornton House while visiting artists on the Iowa Art Tour, centered in Decorah, IA. The house was a perfect base for our visit. The breakfasts were exceptional and we enjoyed visiting with Frank each morning. The house is filled with wonderful objects and is a short walk to excellent restaurants downtown as well as... More

Our stay at the Thornton House B&B was wonderful. The house is immaculate and we were served a delicious breakfast by the owner Frank. The bed was comfortable and we found numerous restaurants downtown for evening dining options. Lansing is a quiet and quaint river town. My wife and I will be planning a return trip to Thornton House in... More

The house is beautiful and spotless. Definately well cared for. The way that history has been preserved is an added bonus that rivals other B&Bs. Breakfasts are amazing and the owners are fun to visit with. We've stayed here twice.

This is my second time at Thornton House and really enjoy staying here while visiting my family. The rooms are comfortable , clean and the neighborhood is quiet so I always have no trouble sleeping which is priceless. Oh, the food is exceptional and Frank always has something unexpected on the menu- FUN!

We rented the cottage for the weekend and two hours after checking out were informed we "trashed" the house. The owners yelled at us saying it took two cleaning people six hours to clean the house. Keep in mind we only left two hours before. The cleaning people are running a scam! They said we left dirty dishes in the... More

The $150 charge was for Friday, which they booked but didn't show up until early Saturday and stayed 2 nights instead of three. They were only charged for what they actually booked. A phone message on Friday afternoon indicated to hold it for them because they "still planned on coming". We have never charged a cleaning fee and really do... More

Amazing food, rooms were incredible and we felt put back in time. Frank and Steve who run the show are kind, generous and will wow you over with their talents, stories, and they bend over backwards for whatever you need. You will not be disappointed and and a return visit is in our plans for our "6 pack" girls and... More

We arrived by boat, to the Marina late in the afternoon. Our Marina host took us to Thornton House. When we arrived our host, Frank, would have picked us up if he had known we were coming by boat. Just need a phone call to let him know. We made our reservations on line. It is a short walk to... More

Lansing is a charming little town, recommended by a friend of mine. We stayed at the Thornton House for one night, & wish it could have been for more. We enjoyed it tremendously; our host was terrific; he made a wonderful breakfast with the lightest waffles I have ever eaten. Our room was super & the bathrooms are wonderfully huge... More

We hadn't been down to this part of the Mississippi before, figured we'd try a b&b on the Iowa side. Picked the right one. Rooms were clean, and as befits good B&Bs, slightly eclectic. :) Hosts were very friendly and accommodating, they've done a great job fixing this 100+ year old Doctor's residence up. Easy walks to downtown Lansing and... More
