This place is is much better shape than it was three years ago. It was very clean and the antiques were well cared for. We had very attentive service and wonderful food for breakfast. I'd love to see it with more guests. Only thought would be to have more signage outside so that guests would know it was open. If... More

My husband reserved a room at this B&B for a business trip, being the only place we could find within 45 minutes of the event location with openings. After realizing that the main building didn't have internet they provided a room in their Riverside building, which provided "modern" conveniences . The room had piss stains all over the carpet, stains... More

We have stayed at Hotel Manning several times. Spent our honeymoon there in a romantic room furnished with the finest antiques and had a wonderful Sunday Brunch. We sat on the second story porch and played chess, and watched the lazy Des Moines River flow by. No TV, NO phone, No WIFI. Just peace and quiet. This time, during Chicago... More

The Villages of Van Buren was a perfect place for a relaxing weekend! We stayed in a couple of rooms at Hotel Manning. The old hotel is beautiful and full of antiques. We had a room with two beds that overlooked the river, and a single room with a double bed (there were three of us meeting for a girls'... More

this is ahuge hotel, built in the early 1800's as a home, then added onto around 1900 to make a hotel. the owners are a very pleasant couple who have to battle flooding from the des moines river. there's even markers on the side of the building showing the height of the flooding with the years marked. the rooms are... As soon as you open the Hotel manning house doors you are transformed into the early 1900's.first thing that you notice is a very old hotel cash register, intricate wood designed stair case, the old glass windows, heavy doors, very high ceilings and all the decor that comes with the period. There are places to sit on the very long porch to watch... More

It was like stepping back in time. The rooms were filled with antiques, and it was like staying in a museum. Our room had a bathroom but not all rooms had them. The shared bathrooms were very nice, I checked them out. The lock on our door broke and we were upgraded to a corner room. It had a bay... More

The owners of the Hotel Manning have done an amazing job preserving the 1800s riverboat era character of the Hotel Manning, located in Van Buren county seat Keosauqua. The building is like a museum, with beautiful antique furnishings and art, and not much aside from the bathrooms to place you in modern times. Listed on the National Register of Historic... More

The property has character, charm and a great location on the banks of the Des Moines river. The two rooms that face the river are higher priced than the other but well worth it. That said, the property is not restored to the modern level of detail sometimes found in historic properties. It is likely much as it really was... More
