Iowa House Hotel in Iowa City is right in the middle of the University of Iowa Campus. It sits on the river, some of the views are lovely. The entrance is under construction, as the IMU building is still recovering from the flood of 2008, with new permanent flood prevention structures to prevent future damage to the IMU, and other... I have been visiting Iowa City a few times per year for a while now and I have the hotel situation pretty well figured out. They will be completely full at times--sporting events, graduations, etc., and empty at other times. This makes for a weird pricing structure and occasionally a room that has not been cleaned for a while, plus... More

Stayed here before on 3rd floor and it was fine- this time thought we would save some money and stay in the "not remodeled rooms" on 2nd floor. The first room they sent us to smelled so bad of mold we could not would not spend the night in the room. The next room smelled better but the very very... More

Great location, very nice staff. I would suggest when you book ask not to be by the elevator, super noisy and we're really not particular. The room hadn't been dusted in weeks which was disappointing and they only have heat or air. We were on the 4th floor, it was very warm and they had no fans available. You can... More

If you want a clean room close to all classes, events, downtown Iowa City, Iowa House is your hotel. Parking, wireless, breakfast, and workout at brand new Rec. center are included. I had a ton of school activities, events and it was great to have covered parking on football game day, etc. It also has great running trails around the... More

The location can't be beat and the amenities in the IMU (i.e. movie theaters, lounges, etc.) as well as the Iowa Rec Center usage (Olympic pool, basketball courts, free parking etc.) make this hotel a real Iowa City experience. Other than getting gouged on football weekends (which somehow I don't think I did because I stayed in the Business Suite,... More

As a U of I grad, I never stayed in the union, so I thought we'd give it a try for our son's college visits. My family has stayed at the Iowa House Hotel four times over the past year. We always stayed in an updated "executive" room ($20 more but worth it). Small rooms but nice décor, comfy beds... More

Four of us stayed in a hotel room, which is located inside of Iowa Memorial Union (IMU) on the campus of the University of Iowa. The location was excellent for a college visit. However, the room which was up to date, was very crowded. It was hardly large enough for two, and it wasn't the cheapest room. We stayed in... More

I checked in to the Iowa House Hotel on May 12th for a 4 night stay. We had arrived early for a Labor conference. The front desk was great, allowing us to check in 3 hours early. So far, so good. Sadly, that is where the good ended. Walking into my room - (Keep in mind it was 86 degrees... More
