I am a former desk clerk, so read this review with that in mind. This is the best place to stay for the price! Parking is included and not a concern for your entire stay. Assuming you are visiting Iowa City to go to a game, visit campus, or visit your kid, you will not find another place to stay... More

We decided to stay here as the hotels in downtown Iowa City can be very expensive and/or booked for the weekend. We stayed in the business class rooms and I couldn't say anything was wrong with it. You have parking included in the price, along with access to the fitness centers if you want. We didn't stay for the Continental... More

We returned after 14 years to tour the campus with our youngest child. Our oldest graduated 10 years ago when we stayed regularly. The hotel is in such a wonderful and unique location: right in the middle of campus in the student union. The desk attendant was very welcoming and the light breakfast perfectly okay. But the rooms are so... More

I am sorry you did not enjoy your experience staying at the hotel after such a long time away. As of now 2 out of the 3 floors have been remodeled within the last 5 years and we have 1 more floor to go. We know at the hotel there is a need to update our rooms and are actively... More

The location of this hotel is great if you are visiting campus, but I could not in good conscience recommend this hotel to others. We checked in late and night and were looking forward to a good long shower. The bathrooms are very tiny (expected for a building this old) but the tub had mold on the caulk and had... More

I am sorry you had issues and did not enjoy your stay at the hotel. It sounds like you stayed on one of our unrenovated rooms (which we are looking at renovating in the near future). The bathrooms are small and do not have vents due to the university not allowing. I am sorry you wished to stay elsewhere but... More

By no stretch is this an upscale hotel. It's a standard hotel on a college campus. Rooms were clean and comfortable, and that's all I was hoping for on this trip. It had everything I needed during the five days I was there for business. Front desk and staff very friendly and helpful. Free continental breakfast a plus, and they... More

I am happy you enjoyed your business trip here. I hope the new features that just opened on the ground floor of the Iowa Memorial Union were to your liking. We hope you consider to stay with us again on your next business trip. More

Iowa House Hotel in Iowa City is right in the middle of the University of Iowa Campus. It sits on the river, some of the views are lovely. The entrance is under construction, as the IMU building is still recovering from the flood of 2008, with new permanent flood prevention structures to prevent future damage to the IMU, and other... I am happy you enjoyed your recent stay with us and return to Iowa House Hotel in the future. We are about to undergo a process to improve the Wi-Fi throughout the hotel and hope to have this completed before September 2015. More

I have been visiting Iowa City a few times per year for a while now and I have the hotel situation pretty well figured out. They will be completely full at times--sporting events, graduations, etc., and empty at other times. This makes for a weird pricing structure and occasionally a room that has not been cleaned for a while, plus... More

I am sorry that you had so many issues during your stay in January. As the new General Manager i wanted to let you know we have addressed some of the issues you have mentioned. The building will reopen all of its amentites by July 2015 after the flood that occured in 2008. We have had the previous issues of... More

Stayed here before on 3rd floor and it was fine- this time thought we would save some money and stay in the "not remodeled rooms" on 2nd floor. Hello. Thank you for your review of the property. As the new general manager i want you to know that i am working to remodel the 2nd floor in the upcoming years. Great location, very nice staff. I would suggest when you book ask not to be by the elevator, super noisy and we're really not particular. The room hadn't been dusted in weeks which was disappointing and they only have heat or air. We were on the 4th floor, it was very warm and they had no fans available. You can... More
