I needed a place to stay in Iowa City fairly last minute and am so pleased I got to stay here! Beth & Mark are super friendly and interesting, the house was lovely and close to everywhere I wanted/needed to go in downtown IC and on campus. I was upstairs and my room was quiet and comfortable. Breakfast was simple... More

Our first experience at the Smiths' home was for a college visit. Beth and Mark were full of great ideas of things to do and see around Iowa City. They made us feel at home. We stayed in the upstairs front bedroom with a comfy bed, desk, and roomy closet for hanging audition clothes. They wanted to hear all about... More

Our 3-year-old and newborn were welcomed, as well as offered toys to play with. The spacious room, with private entrance, allowed us to have privacy when the baby was cranky in the evening. I especially appreciated that we were asked right away about dietary restrictions so that breakfast would contain no nuts, and was also meat-free. Everything was clean and... More

My wife and I stayed at the Smith's B&B on two occasions and we plan to return any time we visit the University of Iowa for the Summer Writing Festival Workshops. The home is beautiful and your hosts, Mark and Beth are personable, warm & charming. My wife and I like to stay in the downstairs room because it affords... More

Stayed here with our young kids. The B&B has a downstairs room with private entrance and not near other guest rooms. Perfect for families with young kids. Breakfast was good and location is great. The innkeepers were wonderful.

Friendly service despite late arrival, spacious, nicely-decorated, quiet, and comfortable room, delicious breakfast with good company....and all for less than the price of a weird-smelling breakfast-less room at one of the chains off the interstate. Smiths' is a great choice and right near downtown.

I recently stayed at Smith's B&B for four nights and had a wonderful experience. The house was warm and welcoming and Mark and Beth even more so. The breakfasts were WONDERFUL. I'm still dreaming of the homemade bread. It was in walking distance to downtown. I would stay there again in a heartbeat and would recommend it highly!

My Sister & I stayed 3 days with Mark & Beth based on prior reviews. The home is beautiful, the breakfasts tasty, the company wonderful and all at a reasonable price. This is a wonderful location in a beautiful neighborhood. I would recommend this B & B to anyone & everyone. Gerri from Simi Valley

I was actually there in January of 2008 with three extended family members (my kids & my cousin), thr four of us ranging in age from 15 to 50ish. The upstairs bedrooms, sitting room and spacious bathroom were ideal for a family group. At breakfast time, we were treated like guests of Mark and Beth, and the rest of the... More

I'm not the B&B type, but I recommend Smiths' B&B without hesitation. The house is exceptionally clean, very comfortable, and located within walking distance to campus/downtown. And Mark and Beth are excellent hosts. They're intelligent and laid back folks who are happy to engage, though also will respect your space. I stayed for four weeks, mostly in their downstairs apartment... More
