My husband and I had a GREAT stay at the Garden & Galley and highly recommend it. We stayed in the Garden Suite and it felt like we were on our 2nd honeymoon. The Suite is very spacious, has its own fireplace and private garden area. I loved visiting with Esther in her to-dye-for-kitchen as she prepared breakfast. Esther is... More

We stayed at the Garden and Galley Bed and Breakfast for parent weekend at Simpson college. The place was clean and cozy like a home. This was my first time staying at a bed and breakfast and I have mixed feelings about whether or not I will do it again as I tend to like more privacy than our room... More

My wife and I stayed two nights here while going to the Des Moines Opera which runs it's' summer program at nearby Simpson College. The house is an excellent Frank Lloyd Wright knock-off from circa 1950 with most of its ingenious details still in place. It is situated on a hill (yes, a hill, I discovered that not all of... More

This B&B is in a beautiful setting. You can hear the cars going by but the 9 acres afford a great quiet place to wander the mowed paths. Esther is a very gracious host. She is there when you need her otherwise you really have the place to yourself. We were greeted with something to drink and snack on out... More

My wife and I stayed overnight while our daughter was visiting Simpson College. It was wonderful. Esther (our host) was most gracious and made us feel very comfortable and the bed was great. The food was delectable (especially her eggs and the cinnamon rolls). The cost was the same as you would get in many hotels in Des Moines and... More

Our extended family recently stayed at Garden and Galley bed and breakfast for a weekend get together. We were treated like family by Ester, and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The home is situated on several acres with much of it being wooded. After a morning hike on trails behind the home, Ester had a gourmet breakfast ready for us. We... More

We just enjoyed a great experience at a bed and breakfast at the Garden and Galley. Our host Esther was attentive, friendly and hospitable without being intrusive. We stayed in the "garden suite" which was large and luxurious. Our breakfast was wonderful. THis was an overall completely enjoyable experience.

My wife and I (both spanish, sorry about my poor English) taveled from Chicago to Minneapolis through Iowa (don't ask me, as most americans do, if we have parents there. We don't. We did it for fun, just to know this land). We liked, very different from the big USA cities we had known in last years. And in Indianola... More

My husband and I decided to take a weekend trip near home and ended up visiting the Bridges of Madison County. And boy are we glad we decided to take that trip. The Garden & Galley is a jewel, and we had a wonderful stay. Esther was a perfect hostess - gracious and warm. The breakfast was lovely, and the... More
