This wonderful old hotel/inn was very comfortable. The rooms are spacious and furnished with antiques. The bathroom was very large and modern. Although the inn is across the highway from very busy railroad tracks, the "white noise" machine in the room cancelled out the trains. I had very good sleep on the comfortable bed. The breakfasts were wonderful with a... More

My friend, ( a Fort Madison native) drug me to the Inn this weekend. We decided to check the place out since we drive by it quite a bit and wanted to figure out what all the hype was about. This is a bed and breakfast but it's more like a hotel. The owner was nice enough to give us... More

We had a wedding this past weekend and we had the wedding party all stay here. The inn has just reopened and has been updated. The staff was very accommodating and attentive. The breakfasts were incredible and served hot. The atmosphere of the hotel itself is historical and legendary. You will not find a better hotel anywhere else in this... More

We reserved rooms on both sides of RAGBRAI, figuring that it would be just the perfect place to start and end our trip across Iowa. After an 18+ hour drive into town, we were shocked to see a simple piece of paper on the door stating "Closed Until Further Notice". No phone call, no email, no warning that they were... More

This was my second stay here while on a railfanning vacation. For this it is ideally suited with trains regularly passing within a few yards. It has pleasant rooms and an excellent breakfast served with “proper” plates and silver ware, a change from chain motels. But it seems to have gone downhill since my previous visit. The owner/manager who previously... More

We reserved a block of rooms for August and just received emails saying our reservation has been cancelled and don't bother calling because no one is there to answer your calls. Since then I have tried to call, the phone is still connected but no answer and I keep receiving modification/cancellation emails from them. Do NOT give them your business,... More

This is called a B & B but is more like a hotel. The furniture is all Victorian era dated and very attractive. The room I had was large and extremely comfortable. Get a room overlooking the old fort and the river. Approx 100 trains go by a day, but that did not worry me at all. The owner is... More

The Kingsley Inn is a combination of the very best in hotels and B&B's. Located near the banks of the Mississippi we had a very large room overlooking the river. All the rooms are beautifully decorated in Victorian style and very ample, with good bathroom facilities. The Breakfast Room is also beautifully decorated and we were served an unusual and... More

Our most recent visit was in September 2012. We have stayed at the Kingsley Inn several times over the years and it continues to be a wonderful spot in a pretty location. It looks out on the Mississippi River, with the old Fort almost right in front. There is a nice park along the river which is great for walking... More

The room we rented at the inn was spacious and comfortable. For an old inn, the refurb was top notch. We could not have asked for more when it came to comfort and space. One issue to consider when staying at this location is the noise from the trains constantly going by. We wanted to stay in this place because... More
