I stayed overnight at the Kingsley as part of my "railfan" weekend - since Ft. Madison is a beehive of train traffic. My third floor dormer room faced both the tracks and highway, but the noise was surprisingly low (except for the up-close train whistles at the nearby crossing, but I like that, anyway....) Plus - a nice view of... more

We stayed for three nights in the Kingsley Inn, and loved every minute of it. Each room is gorgeous, and no detail is spared! The room overlooked the Mississippi, the restored Ft. Madison, and lovely Riverview Park. There is a wonderful Emporium room which serves as a great place to relax and watch the trains, barges, sailboats, and people go... more

I was home in May to hold a memorial service for my mother who had passed away on Christmas Eve. I had the WA Sheaffer Room and loved the fact that I could hear the trains passing in the night; the beds and room were extremely clean and comfortable; the breakfast was small but sufficient (not many alternatives to the... more

We were in Fort Madison to visit family and attend the Blues Festival. Family members from three states came in that week-end with some of our family living in Fort Madison. What a beautiful place to stay. The owners seemed like part of our family. Very nice and helpful. The hotel was decorated with beautiful antiques and furnishings that made... more

I was greeted at the door by the owner, who referred to me by name. The lobby area is a mix of grandmom's victorian and modern conveniences. My room was one of the smaller 3rd floor dormer rooms with the river view, which unfortunately was also a freight train view. Choose the other side if you like it quiet. I... more

Because of our previous visit and bad experiences at the Kingsley Inn, my sister and I decided not to stay at this hotel during our time in Ft. Madison. We chose make the 20 mile drive from Keokuk, and stayed at the Hampton Inn there. We were there for a week driving back and forth every day, but it was... more

This hotel is beautiful...until you start looking at details. My husband and I stayed 05/23/07-05/26/07 for our first anniversary. If you plan on a relaxing place to stay to get caught up on sleep....go elsewhere! Just make sure the railroad tracks are not close. I read a review on this website before we left but I thought it wouldn't be... more

Regretfully it is not possible to please everyone all of the time, no matter how hard you try. We apologize for any inconvenience there MIGHT have been. We strive to give the best service and accommodations in the region. Overlooking the Mississippi River, in downtown Fort Madison, the Kingsley Inn is located less than 9 miles from the LDS Nauvoo...

We found the Kingsley Inn to be a unique, historical, well maintained, comfortable, convienent, and a relaxing place to stay while visiting friends and family in Ft. Madison. The owner was on site making sure questions or concerns were addressed promptly. The food and service was very good. We highly recommend it if you are in the area. more

My sister and I have stayed at the Kingsley Inn at least once a year for the last six years. It was always the highlight of our trip. However when the new owners took over a couple of years ago, things have progressively lost their special touch. The new owner is cheap and very rude, the coffee is weak, and... more

We stayed at the Kingsley for three days and two nights on their "Antique Lovers" package. The facility is fantastic! Beautifully and elegantly furnished with antiques, it combined the best of a hotel stay with a bed & breakfast experience. The place was spotless, and the staff (usually the owner himself) addressed any concerns we had immediately. They were exceptionally... more
