The outside was what we expected they are diligently working on it the inside was wonderful. Nicely appointed very clean. Our hosts were absolutely wonderful. The breakfasts were over the top good. All this for a very very affordable price. Thank you Richards house for making our stay memorable.

This was my first time at a BnB from the minute we walked in everything was wonderful. The house is gorgeous first of all.. Michelle is so gracious.. "Here let me upgrade you.". "Here have some cake and wine" "when would you like breakfast" to which I replied eight am.. I'm a bit of an early bird and came down... More

WE had a delightful 3 night stay here. The propriators treat you like family and the breakfast is SPECTACULAR. Don't be deterred by the exterior appearance. The well furnished rooms are luxurious and have very comfortable beds. We will definitely stay at Richard's House the next time we are in Dubuque

I unfortunately stayed here over the winter months. Let's keep this simple - this place absolutely REEKS of cat urine! The rooms, the towels, the sheets, the pillows... everything! No further explanation is needed - stay somewhere else!

I was on a personal trip, traveling alone, and wanted to try something new so I looked for a B&B in Dubuque Iowa. I found this place doing some online research and thought I'd give it a try. I wasn't disappointed. The hosts were friendly, the food was fabulous, and the house is amazing on the inside. It was easy... More

Steve and I stay here often. Our first stay was was 10 years ago. We travel extensively and always stay in B&B's when possible. Unfortunately the Richards House was our first B&B stay, so all other stays are compared to Richards House. There is no where else that has the whole package like Richards House. Friendly, great food, beautiful antiques,... More

There are multiple things that are wrong with this establishment. Before you even enter the door the house is in a state of neglect and disrepair, the inside of the house is slightly better. The strong smell of cat piss that greets you as you enter the door is frankly repulsive. The hosts must have somewhere between 15 and 20... More

I really don’t know where to start with a reply to this except to say that nothing in their review is accurate and proper. This couple was on vacation traveling and camping and arrived in Dubuque without any lodging arrangements. As the weather forecast was for bad weather, they decided to try to get lodging. They called us and asked... More

I am noticing that all the folks with multiple reviews, that look like real people gave this place 5 stars. This is truly a luxury stay for a very cheap price. There is another B&B nearby and several hotels, and my guess is that most of these 1 star reviews are fake-as most have reviewed only one thing ever at... More

The Library Suite was awesome; luxury digs at a price I would normally pay at a hotel. David and Michelle were most gracious. I will judge all other Bed & Breakfasts by the Richards House. The history of the home was fascinating; Dave gave us a very interesting tour! The outside is a story of its own, and the moment... More

We really enjoyed our stay. We received a very nice tour when we arrived and did notice that there was the smell of cat urine. It was NOT overwhelming as some have suggested. We met the feline friends and it was very obvious that the cats were NOT allowed in the rooms. It was emphasized many times by Dave. The... More
