This hotel has great rooms and food. It also had great location to the Iowa Events Center. It also has free parking which was great too and free shuttle service too. We will definitely stay at this hotel again. The front desk was very helpful and friendly. more

We were in Des Moines for a family wedding and stayed at the Holiday Inn. It was a terrible experience. I had reserved a handicapped room for my mother and when we arrived they had given the room to another party. If our entire wedding party had not been staying at the hotel we would have left. Instead, we were... more

Located near several highways, the outside noise is so bad that the front desk actually gives out earplugs when you check in. They put them in a bag with a couple of snacks, so as to not call too much attention to the fact this your stay is going to be really noisy and therefore, you have no chance of... more

Pretty good for a Holiday Inn, room was clean and comfortable...The hotel restaurant I'd say was a little below par, but surely not bad. As a Priority Club Platinum member, I was upgraded to a larger room, I'd call it a half-suite. Staff was very friendly and had no problem accommodating my very early arrival--at 11AM, they had a nice... more

It is obvious that management at this property know what customer service is about. Upon check-in we were given a Priority Club "goody" bag filled with snacks and bottled water. The front desk clerk also made sure both my husband and I had a free drink coupon for the bar and free buffet tickets for breakfast the next morning. The... more

Stayed here during the 2008 Farm Progress Show, which was taking place 45 minutes up the road in Boone. It was a fairly nice hotel - pretty much isolated from any meaningful surroundings however. I think it would be a great place to stay if you were visiting someone in the hospital directly across the street. Nevertheless, the interstate was... more

After the poor reviews that this hotel has gotten in the past, we were a little concerned. So we stopped by to see for ourselves. Granted, they are an older property, but what they lack in newness, they make up for in cleanliness and hospitality. We were greeted by a fresh, modern lobby, attentive reservationist, and an excellent manager, who... more

This hotel was booked for me by an agency and I didn't have much choice, as caucus time in Des Moines means hotel rooms are at a premium. I had a room with one king bed, a mirrored wall (boy, don't need that in the morning) and bath. No fridge or microwave, which became very tiresome during the week I... more

I travel to Des Moines a lot for business and its always difficult to get a room. I've stayed at the Holiday inn a few times as a last resort but never enjoyed it. The food is bad, the bar is smokey and the rooms are old. Its far from town - but not far enough to take a cab.... more

Found ourselves in downtown Des Moines needing a room and saw the Holiday inn from a distance. We went in and asked if there were rooms available... courteous staff was very helpful. Of course, as soon as we got to the rooms we knew it was a mistake... everything was so old and dated -- the rug looked like it... more
