This hotel is old and outdated. The heater in the room made serious noise and was dripping steam that was making a hole in the carpet. I was worried it would start a fire. Staff was unprofessional and not very knowledgeable or helpful. I gave two because the rooms are spacious and the location is good.

First the problems: the internet is so weak from the room, that one has to hit the lobby to use a laptop. Secondly, I put on a do not disturb sign AND asked the front desk to alert housekeeping that they could skip my room, AND told the housekeeper in person, and she still knocked on my door one afternoon... I enjoyed the historic charm of this centrally located hotel. The shuttle was convenient, staff was pleasant. The old style tv in the room instantly dates it. The bathroom shower was very long and narrow. We opened the closet door and found two mismatched dirty socks. We orded room service for breakfast. The breakfast was great. Large portions and brought... More

This hotel looks and feels very outdated compared to a lot of hotels, but this one is also about 100 years old. It worked out very well for our stay which is what mattered most. My only complaint was we took a stairwell to get downstairs and nothing was marked so we ended up in the back of a restaurant... More

You would think being in the center of a city that has become a nice modern place to visit, this hotel would've been updated. The entrance is nice and speaks of the history but the rooms are prehistoric. So very disappointed. Everything was old and worn down. I wore shoes in our room because the carpet was disgusting. Found a... More

First off let me start by saying that I have tried to contact management at the hotel and no one will return my call I have called 3 times since our stay on August 16th! When we arrived at the hotel we had a hard time finding parking, we were told that the hotel had no parking and were directed... More

Client said they were making a hotel rez for me but someone dropped the ball, there's a big convention in town and they put me here. No discount on parking, tired rooms and lobby, and worst of all, non- functional wifi!! I'm on a business trip and didn't think I'd need to bring a travel AP for a US hotel.... More

This hotel has character galore and from the moment you walk in you feel as if you've been transported in time. The room itself was dated but clean and everything was in good repair. I was in town with a friend for a concert at the Wells Fargo center so was happy to hear the hotel provided a shuttle service... More

I stayed over a Saturday night with a couple buddies on a baseball road trip to see the Iowa Cubs. PROS You can feel the history of the place. It was built in the early 1920's, and twelve U.S. presidents dating back to Woodrow Wilson have stayed here along with countless other celebrities and political figures. I'd always rather stay... Stayed here for one night. As others have said, this place is old. I was really worried about the cleanliness of our room. We stayed in room 407 and I think we got lucky. The bedding, tub, tile, etc were very old. They were stained from age but I can at least say they were clean. No mold or cockroaches.... More
