Was there for a family wedding the weekend of July 12th. Had a slight problem with my room and it was taken care of quickly. Was also offered a discount for my inconvenience. Everyone at the hotel were polite and went out of the way to make our stay a comfortable one. Great location for downtown activities. Fabulous Farmers Market.

To begin with, we arrived at the hotel and the doorman watched as we struggled to unload our various suitcases and bags without botthering to help- I have never had that experience before. The check-in was easy enough and we were offered complementary champagne-nice touch. There are only two rather slow elevators so prepare to wait, to get to where... More

We were on a trip to the races in Newton and stayed here. It was set up for us as we had won a sweepstakes. I would never had known of it otherwise. I liked the location, it was near lots of Parks. (Des Moines has a lot of parks) Farmers Market, the Capitol, which we could see from our... More

My hotel room was very small. Worse was the bathroom. Tiny - reminded me of being in a camper and not as nice as some of those. Sink on a stand with pipes showing, The light switch is on the wall outside the bath room AND behind the door! There isn't even room for the toilet paper holder with out... More

I enjoyed my stay at the Renaissance Savery Hotel, it was clean and comfortable with a touch of class. The hotel bar had friendly, knowledgeable and conversational bartenders. I think the only things that were less than excellent were the parking (street, garage across the street or valet - it's a city so it's not uncommon) and the pillows (very... More

I stayed at the Savery because it bills itself as among the most historic hotels in Des Moines. Okay, the building is old, but there is very little historic feel to it. The rooms are fine, the lobby is fine, the location is fine. There is a great free shuttle to the airport -- that's something I can endorse!

Thank you for your response. I appreciate your candor with regards to your stay at the Renaissance Des Moines Savery Hotel in Des Moines and would agree that many, after staying, wonder about the historic nature of the building. Although we do have an historic property, the Renaissance brand allows us freedom with décor and design, allowing our spaces to... More

WOW! The food was fabulous. The restaurant offers unique foods with an incredible flavor. The bread pudding topped it off for desert! You couldn't ask for a better dining experience. The rooms were quality with an interesting flair.

Classic older hotel with modern, clean well-appointed rooms. Comfortable bed, although the pillows could use more substance. Had a wonderful dinner in the Bos Restaurant to celebrate my wife's retirement with friends. Prices were ridiculously affordable given the gourmet quality of the food. Maple-pepper bacon-wrapped scallops for around $20 and a delicious filet for $30. The chef, John Andres, has... More

This hotel is classic and beautiful. The rooms are small but the staff is genuine and friendly and the service is outstanding. This is downtown Des Moines which is a great location. The decor is beautiful and there are plenty of amenities. I would stay here again!
