Staying at the Black Hawk Hotel in Cedar Falls recently was a delightful experience! Antique furnishings, colorful artwork, large lovely appointed rooms; a lobby with comfortable areas for visiting while being located on Main Street Cedar Falls with its fun shops and restaurants in addition to being on the historical registry is a delightful place to stay for a night... This is the prime spot to stay when visiting Cedar Falls. It is located near several restaurants and bars. It is an older hotel but well kept. If you want the older feel, stay in the main building; if you want a retro trendy room ask for the motor lodge.

The hotel is a nice old place. The room and bed were comfortable. We slept well each night of our four night stay. I thought the place a little pricey. There were some minor maintenance issues. At the time of our stay they were installing an elevator for apartments to be built on the fourth floor. Noisy and dirty during... More

All in all, I think it is a pretty decent building / property both inside the reception as well as the hotel. I have stayed in the first floor in the building and also spend another night in the newly built motor lodge (inn) int he back of the apartment. The room I had stayed in the building was not... The Blackhawk is a beautiful old hotel with many original appointments. Right on Main Street with terrific shops and restaurants just steps away (don't miss Cup o' Joe across the street for breakfast!). We stayed in a 2 queen bed room. This is an OLD hotel so appreciate the charms and overlook some of the quirks. Bathrooms are very large... More

I guess there is a limit to how much money can go into a restoration such as this but the painting in the rooms could be better. Also if louver blinds are used they need to be dusted. Even the window sill is covered in dust. Otherwise lobby and furniture is excellent. Bed comfortable and bathroom spotless. Wish I could... More

We have family in the area and stay here during the holidays. Comfortable rooms, beautiful decor, friendly staff, and located right on the historical Main Street on amongst dining, shopping, and the beautiful Community Theatre.

We loved staying at this hotel. It was conveniently located downtown on Main Street so we could walk to all the restaurants and shops! The decor is a collection of carefully curated antiques. The staff are friendly and helpful. Make sure to try The Stuffed Olive bar next door for a great martini!

When we first stepped inside the Blackhawk Hotel, we were expecting clawfoot bathtubs and swayback mattresses. But along with the beautiful, classic decor, we were as comfortable as at any similarly-priced hotel/motel we might have stayed at. The Blackhawk Hotel is a charming piece of Cedar Falls history and we very much enjoyed our stay. The remodels that have been... More

Spent a weekend in Cedar Falls and stayed in #319 at the Blackhawk. Hotel was lovely, well maintained and steeped in history. The woodwork was gorgeous. Staff very friendly and helpful, even going to the point of letting us know that a bachelorette party was taking place in the room next door and if we had any problems (we didn't),... More
