The Lodge is a very cool, old hotel; heavy on the "old". All, and I mean all, of the furniture looked like stuff my grandparents might have owned, and I'm not in my 20's, 30's or 40's. The toilet didn't flush (but was fixed quickly), the shower made the pipes hum loudly, the ancient carpet in our room had not... More

Third visit and sadly just now getting to review. This place is an 'old' German replica. I am from Cincinnati and constantly careful with historical German architecture, so The Lodge is like a playhouse for me (the walls don't crumble when you slam a door, etc.). Though some upgrades should be in order in the future, it is quite comfortable,... More

My husband and I stayed one night at a very spacious and comfortable room. Yes, the hotel needs some repairs, however, the room was very clean and had everything you could possibly need. A huge plus was the rate! We also enjoyed a nice relaxing dinner at the restaurant. Would stay again when in the area.

Could be a beautiful building! Lacked maintenance. Our first room had no air conditioning. Moved to another room which was cooler. The air conditioner was very loud when it was on. The beds were horrible. The pillows were flat as pancakes!! The gentleman at the desk was nice & apologetic about the room. He did try to find us one... More

After reading numerous reviews both good and bad we decided to give this old style Bavarian hotel a shot based on the low price. I must admit it had a lot of character and was full of beautiful ornate carvings and stained glass windows. You can tell there is a definite lack of maintenance as the main entrance still had... We moved back from Belize and were headed to Arizona and decided to stay Oct to Jan for the holidays in the QC as that is our home. We did an extended stay at the Lodge and was really blown over by the staff. Loretta at the front desk along with the others were quick friends. The staff in the... More

Bavarian charm pervades the decor. My room had a four poster bed, with two nightstands, sitting chair, desk and swivel chair, table w/3 chairs, mini fridge, microwave, and an armoire. Food was delicious. It was hard to regulate the heat-mostly too hot. There was no light in the eating/closet area so if you ate at the desk you couldn't see... More

This place is a huge part of just about every person in the Quad City area. This place used to be alive and charming. Fires always roaring in huge fireplaces in the library and bar. Real plants and flowers in the pots and planters. It was clean and full of life. This is where people went to propose, celebrate, find... More

This place obviously has a beautiful history. The only problem is that it needed an investor 20 years ago to upkeep the beautiful charm. Obviously, the staff does a great job working within their limitations...ie. it is as clean as it will get considering the carpet, tiling, decor has needed upgrading since 1993. Which is unfortunate because their food is... More

My future spouse and I rented a King fireplace suite with a second King suite for part of our wedding party. The rooms were a disgrace.. Our room was filthy, with live bugs coming out of the heater unit, which hadn't been cleaned for what looked like a year. There were light bulbs missing, the fan had so much dirt... More
