When we drove up to the lodge, my DH remarked, "Are we staying in a mental institution?!?" Indeed, the lodge at McCormick's Creek SP is a former sanatorium. You'll recognize the design: back in the 30s - 40s there must have been some master blueprint every state used to build these things. Inside, the management has done quite a bit... More

The restaurant used to be outstanding years ago. NOT now! I had a business lunch last week that was really terrible! Their special of the day was fried fish. I ordered chicken tenders, mashed potatoes with white gravey, and broccoli. The chicken was smashed so flat that I thought for sure they had brought me fish. It had a weird... More

Two weeks ago my daughter and son-in-law had the woodsy early fall wedding they wanted at McCormick's Creek State Park. Although they no longer live in the area, they have many friends in Bloomington, and the location in southern Indiana is midway between the bride's family in Virginia and the groom's family in Colorado. Between the accommodations at the Canyon... More

this state park has some of the prettiest hiking trails. we've learned the prettier the trail usually means its much more than an easy hike. Many of their trails are more moderate than easy, but definitely worth it. Be sure to take some good hiking shoes with you. The campground is also pretty nice, some of the sites are a... More

This reveiw is about the park itself. We have not stayed at the Inn, or camp grounds. McCormicks Creek is just over an hours drive for us, so it's a great place for us to get away for a day of hiking. The trails are clean, wide, and well marked. Wolf Cave Nature Preserve, Trail 5, is one of our... More

McCormick's Creek is one of our favorite spots to camp. The park is very well maintained and clean. We stayed in the campground during the week so we were one of only a handful of people there. The sites are nicely shaded; however, there are some with very uneven surfaces which makes setting up a little tricky. Other than that,... More

We really liked this campground. It was small and intimate and quiet. The sites were a little close together, but that didn't seem to matter too much. Definitely better for campers and RVs than tents, but we found a good flat area on our site. The trails here were beautiful, running along the creek. One goes by the falls, which... More

What a treat just one hour away! *Tons to do with the kids - horseback riding, hayride, hikes, swimming, caving and more! *Very clean and affordable family cabins.$63 a night and sleeps 6! *Awesome restaurant at... This place is beautiful as are many of Indiana's state parks that we've camped at. But wouldn't camp there again. Night shift DNR agent treated us like suspected criminals. We often camp with big groups and try to be conscious of our volume. But, geez, a kind reminder is all we need. First night he came around he suggested that... More

We camped here for 3 nights in our pop-up camper. We met 2 sets of friends here- one had a motor home and the other had a pop-up. We asked for 3 sites next to each other that were not too far from the restroom/bathing facilities. My lot (161) was fairly level and did not require me to put wood... More
