After a long day of driving we were approaching the Chicago area and decided avoid that traffic until morning.  We located a Yogi Bear Jellystone Park in Portage, Indiana, on our smart phone and drove to it.  We checked in June 24. 2015, for one night. The person checking us in was pleasant and we found the assigned site.  It... More

This camp-resort served its purpose by providing a location relatively close to Chicago. Other than that it was a lousy experience. I-94 was a short stones throw away from the back of our site and a train track was a couple of hundred yards in front. Not a peaceful setting. Bring ear plugs and alcohol if you plan to stay... I have never been to this location, and like to camp at Jellystones, however on top of all the other valid comments left by travelers, we were actually asked to leave! My family and I booked 3 cabins together near the freight trains, and they both brought their dogs, which we all know were not allowed INSIDE of the cabins.... More

This is by far the worse camping experience ever.freight trains about 700 ft from where our tents were, all day and all night every five minutes trains at zooming by,with whistles blowing,a bloody nightmare, idiots driving around all hours of the night on golf carts, not to mention, the trailer park/ supposedly campgrounds, the place is a dump.dirty surroundings in all directions.only nice thin about... We reviewed the campground website and we were EXCITED to find a place close to the Dunes National / State Park as well as other destinations suggested by visitors guide. Add to this our desire to enjoy some fall weather camping in July due to weather, it was shaping up to be a GREAT TIME... RIGHT UNTIL WE PULLED INTO... More

We decided to try this place out despite the reviews. We are introducing the kids to camping and go to the Dunes for a weekend getaway. This place was GREAT. There is a mobile home park on the road to the campground but so what, I'm not staying there. They keep to themselves. Jellystone has a private vinyl fence around... More

We stayed in July and park patrol was friendly and helpful. I lost my puppy and a commander on a blue golf cart found and returned her. We also met some other park patrol members who were helpful and informative, they had a permanent site next to our campsite at lot 392. We will definitely stay again very soon.

This camnpground is very crowded. It is right next to busy railroad tracks and that is what you hear all night. Not the sounds of nature. Our site did not even have a tree for shade. Cleaniness on scale 1-10, I would rate a 6. The campground is mostly full time summer people who over decorate a small lot. The... More
