We arrived at the house on hill at 14.40 after a walk round Loch Trool. We went in and asked if they were still serving food. The girl at the bar was so pleasant and said she would ask as they had finished serving at 14.30! It was not a problem as they would still serve soup sandwich,s and chips which was... More

My boyfriend and I had an unplanned visit here on 30th December 2015. We were heading from Glasgow to Kirkcudbright to spend New Years with friends when we ended up on a road which we didn't realise was flooded as it was pitch black - we ended up flooding our engine and the car wouldn't start. Thankfully we managed to... More

Stopped in while staying locally. It was a quiet Monday night so easy to get in. The pub has a nice local atmosphere, with nice staff and a well stocked bar full of local beers and varied whiskeys. I had the t bone steak, she had the pie of the day...... suffice it to say we both left with happy... More

We have been here twice now and both times the food has exceeded our expectations. We were taking our camper van further into the forest and came across the hotel unexpectedly and decided to stop for tea before driving on. The staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. The first time we went we were there just before 7... More

This place was excellent. If you're touring the area or just want a peaceful night away, it's perfect. The food was excellent too. Beautifully comfortable bed and amazing shower. I would highly recommend it. All the facilities you need normally but away from the city.

Really lovely little Hotel / B & B right in the Forest, so the setting is lovely. Lovely and clean and the breakfast is top notch! All the staff are super friendly. The night time view of the Milky Way right outside the doorstep sums up why this Forest has a Dark Sky Award and this Hotel is the perfect... More

Stopped over at the House O' Hill Hotel on a cycle tour. This is on a regular cycle route for us however would normally cycle straight past this hotel and stop over at Newton Stewart however have sadly always experienced difficulty in finding somewhere nice to eat there. Will no longer cycle past the House O' Hill Hotel in future... More

I stayed at this hotel having just travelled from Northern Ireland. It was a fair drive from the ferry but it was worth it. The welcome was great, the food was good, the beer even better, the room was beautifully furnished with a window alcove used as a dressing-table which for me doubled as a writing-desk, the bed was very... We were on a cycle tour and stayed for bed and breakfast at this beautifully renovated old Pub. The room was very comfortable and had everything we needed. The evening meal was outstanding - amongst the best meals we have ever had. The food was sourced locally and was cooked to perfection, with creative dishes and if you preferred, some... More
