We didn't stay at this hotel, but did their Sukamade tour. Fortunately we saw a turtle and the next morning we let baby turtles to the sea, which was great. The staff was very kind and experienced. The stay at Sukemade was really basic, but it was part of the experience.

Kalibaru cottage is located at Gumitir mountain, where the air is fresh and clean. The rooms are clean and well maintained. Many foreigners were seen here, more than local tourist were. You can order a tour service to visit other places from here, like the Ijen crater and Sukamade beach. My suggestion is to go all the way and order... More

It looked great on the website. We arrived in the dark so it looked great. In the morning we notices that some maintanance was needed. Staff in the reception was friendly. The breakfast girls were not that friendly, but never mind, we stayes just one night

First impression is very nice. Pretty gardens. Rooms are ok. But the staff of the restaurant is very sloppy. Sitting together chatting at a table of the huge but very inhospitable restaurant. They could do so much better business. For example, in the huge lobby, next to the restaurant, nobody even bothers to ask the guests whether they would like... More

The rooms here are basic though the grounds are pretty, and the pool is very nice, But the food is absolutely awful, and there really isn't much choice in the vicinity. Basic Indonesian fare is almost ok, but we were celebrating a birthday and decided to splash out on a steak - think an overdone piece of meat with the... More

We spent one night in Kalibaru cottages hotel surrounded by a plantation of cafe and coconut trees The swimming pool is very nice and the bedrooms quite big with an open bathroom: The shower does not have a roof above it: This is very common in Indonesia: It's cool to be able to shower watching the stars :) but on... We stayed for 2 nights in October . On arrival we went to our room and it had not been cleaned from the last guest. Even when cleaned there was hair on the floor. We had a VIP room which was at best standard. The pool was filthy. The tiles covered in slime and the pool grout black. The restaurant... More

The hotel is reasonably clean. there are not many restaurants nearby so you will most likely have to eat in this place. the dinner was ok but not fancy. The cottages are nice from the outside but could be modernized on the inside. While the bedroom is clean, the open air showers are a source of mosquito's, ants and other... More

Looks lovely with lots of bungalows scattered around pretty gardens. Room large & very comfortable. Great partial outdoor shower. Decent pool but not enough sunbeds around it for the number of guests using it. Staff don't have any idea about service - no smiles & everything seems like too much trouble. There is wifi with excellent signal in rooms but... More

We heard about this place from my brother, a guide who takes Dutch tourists on overland tours from Jakarta all the way to Bali. What attracted us was his mention of a plantation at Krikilan in Kalibaru, owned by a Mrs. Harnik. Here they have created a small area as a "mini, sampler plantation", where guests can see all kinds... More
