Extensive menu, always beautifully cooked and presented. Nice atmosphere and surroundings, good beer. Plenty of parking, plus a garden and a covered patio. Minutes off the A34, great place to break a journey.

Stayed for a weekend whilst visiting family nearby. Hosts were very friendly and made us very welcome. Room was simple but clean and comfy , all we needed. Breakfast was really good and freshly cooked. Would certainly recommend as was excellent value for money..

This Inn is located near Newbury Berkshire and handy for Oxford, Cotswolds or for Highclere Castle all of which we visited. We stayed for two nights and loved every minute! Four of us ladies arrived and the very first thing Richard insisted on doing was lugging our luggage to our rooms for us. As my three cousins had come to... More

I recently stayed at the Swan while vacationing in the UK. We were looking for overnight accommodation that was close to Oxford and Highclere Castle. This was a great location, easy to find and easy to reach off of the motorway. The rooms are simple. but clean, comfortable and well appointed. The staff was super friendlyand the food was fantastic!!... More

We stopped there because it was lunch time and well recommended on TripAdvisor. What a good idea that was. We enjoyed a great and tasty carvery served by a friendly staff. The restaurant was fully booked but we only waited 15 min, time to have a nice pint of ale, and they had a table for us. We even entered... More

We eat at the Swan regularly as family lives nearby. The ale and wine selection is always great, sandwiches (esp chicken & bacon and steak) are always great. Cottage pie is too big for me to finish in one sitting so all round, a great pub, solid grub and attentive service.

We arrived at 8.40pm to find that the hotel didn't know anything about our booking which they eventually managed to find. But the room I booked was not available so we had to find alternative accommodation which was less than ideal. The hotel blamed LateRooms.com for the error when it fact, as it turned out later, it was the hotel's... More

Dear Madam You really need to take a bit of perspective before you post defamatory reviews. I take full responsibility for the failure of your booking. You were offered a twin bedded room a substitute for the room booked which given time were could have made a double if you would have waited. I also offered to find you alternative... More

Arrived tired after a day at Highclere Castle. We were gived a warm and friendly greeting by Richard the owner. Our room was warm, and comfortable and after a refreshing wash and brush up we returned to the bar in front of a much appreciated log fire. The menu offers a wide choice of food and we selected gammon and... More

Excellent food, staff and service. A real find and just off the A34. Breakfast is amazing. Staff are friendly. Beers good as is the wine list. For just £85 for a double room including breakfast it's amazing value.
