Excellent food, staff and service. A real find and just off the A34. Breakfast is amazing. Staff are friendly. Beers good as is the wine list. For just £85 for a double room including breakfast it's amazing value.

Stopped off for a bit to eat on our journey from the south coast to Derbyshire, found the staff to be really welcoming, the food was fantastic value for money, hot and tasty. Will definitely break our journey here again in the future.

We found this pub many years ago on one of our trips to the south coast, it's about halfway from home to our destination . We always get excellent food and service here and this week was no exception . Staff are friendly and helpful and the food is great . The pub is always very clean, ditto the loo's... More

Having been stuck behind a wide load for miles on the A34, we decided to call in for lunch - good call! We had a warm welcome from the barmaid (and the little dog) and are happy to recommend the ham, egg and chips and moussaka - decent portions of good quality food which arrived promptly

Have eaten on a regular bases over the past year can't fault the service or food, staff and locals are very friendly, would highly recommend, excellent menu choice, large home made portions. After a lovely meal it's nice to relax In front of their open fire.

English pub Sunday carveries can be awful: dried out roast potatoes, hot wet tasteless meat that's been carved for an hour, wilted peas, watery gravy. Not the Swan at East Ilsey, which has freshly carved rare beef or pork with crackling and an excellent selection of tasty tats, tart sauces and crunchy veg. Well worth deviating off the Ridgeway to... More

Treated ourselves for Sunday lunch on the recommendation of family and what a find! Warm, friendly welcome at the bar on our arrival before being led to our seats. The Sunday carvery usually offers two roast options with every vegetable that you can possibly imagine. You are called up to be served which avoids a scrum down and bottle necks... More

Our family stayed there for two nights for a wedding nearby. Everything spotlessly clean, great pub dogs (who went to bed when asked). Lots of character in the pub, and very helpful and friendly staff.

Stayed here last week (September, 2014) as we needed to attend a family funeral nearby. It was great. Lovely little village. Staff were fantastic and organised a driver to take us about, couldn't be more helpful. The owners had to go on holiday just as we arrived and left us in the very capable hands of their daughter Kelly who... More
