Very good food and atmosphere. Incredible service. Great history here. I stayed in General Sherman's suite, no dreams or anything, but liked the extra room. Great meeting rooms. Very safe town. And you are right downtown.

Every year we stop at the Sherman House for breakfast on the way to Nashville, Indiana. The restaurant is in a historic building in downtown Batesville. Service is always good, and breakfast is hearty and reasonably priced. Tequila Sunrises and Mimosas are delicious and have become part of our brunch tradition.

My husband had a meeting in Batesville, and some years ago we stayed at the Sherman House. I called and made reservations for him to stay two nights assuming the rooms were still nice. He said his room was terrible - had chipped paint and badly in need of a thorough update. The bathroom was worse than the sleeping area.... More

Myself and four of my friends stayed at the Inn for a night. We ate in the restaurant which was very clean with good service. The food was a bit pricey depending on what you ordered but very tasty. The rooms reminded me of a bed and breakfast which helped to add to the hotels old charm. None of us... More

We called ahead to ask about "gluten free" options. We were told that they could prepare lots of items gluten free and the chef was aware. When we were seated and told our server we needed gluten free, she went back to check with the chef. She came out with 3 things that they could do... the parmesan fish without... More

This is a nice old historic resaraunt and I am glad I stopped here. The German fare served here is good and the price is reasonable. The salad bar is small but offers very good German potato salad. The furnishings and decor of the this place are very old and help add to the charm.

Having stayed here a few years ago we opted to stay a second time. It is a good stop for the money. Very old and quaint, narrow halls and smallish rooms. It is clean and the staff is very friendly and helpful Restaurant was closed when we arrived but we were able to order their wonderful desserts for later in... More

I have eaten here many times. I highly recommend the breakfast buffet. I think it is only available on weekends though. Breakfast is always great. Lunch and dinner are okay, I would prefer Lil' Charlies which is close by for lunch/dinner. But I love The Sherman House for bfast/brunch. The rooms are large enough, clean, a little older but clean... More

We had a wonderful meal with a great waitress in a nice but unstuffy atmosphere at a reasonable price. What more can you ask for? Very few spots in my town (Cincinnati) hit this rare, sweet spot between diners and fancy with such good, home-made food. The menu is large, with both German and American specialities.

This restaurant and inn was awesome. The charm of the place was lovely and the staff was superb both for the inn and restaurant. The food was good and never came out cold. Very professional. Also, some of the rooms are "haunted", you can always ask about it. I personally didn't experience anything that I would call haunting, but I... More
