This was our second visit and we were throughly impressed again , as we were the first time . Wonderful quality food and friendly efficient service . The rib eye was delicious and the trio of lemon desert was mouth wateringly yummy ! A great Malbec wine complimented the steak nicely . Worth the drive through the moors on a... More

This sympathetically restored and extended inn offers fine accommodation, friendly and efficient staff with good food set in the magnificent Dartmoor National Park. Reception, public rooms, bars and restaurants roam over several levels and the rooms are upstairs on two floors all named after Grand National Winners (eg Master Robert 1924). The bedrooms are all unique and are very comfortable.... More

This place is atmospheric, dimly lit and full of character. Me and my husband we had a great evening meal here. Upon arrival the staff were very welcoming. There was great ambience. Talking about food; it was scrumptious and tasty. However, there is one down side, psrking is not easily available here and the locals dont like people making u-turns... More

A pub in a delightful setting, nuzzled in a village about 10 minutes walk from the Haytor visitor centre. The food was excellent and plentiful, the service thoughtful and polite. The roaring fire was a joy to sit next to after our windswept walk up to the Tor, and the pint of local ale welcome. I could not recommend this... More

Booked for my partner's 30th. The room was cosy and well heated. Food was amazing. Staff intuitive to all our needs. Could not fault them at all. Definitely one place we will visit time and time again!!!

We'd driven for miles to have Sunday lunch at a hotel just out of Bovey Tracey. On finally arriving, it was to find that the entire place had been booked out for a 1 year olds birthday party. Are we glad it was. Disappointment soon turned to pleasant surprise when we found this gem of a place on the edge... More

I live locally and have eaten here a number of times both sitting in the bar restaurant and the garden which is lovely on a summer evening. The place is olde world in style but pleasant although it could do with some white emulsion in the bar as it's looking tired. I have eaten some nice dishes over a period... More

I didn't know places like this still existed. Like stepping back into a coaching inn of the Victorian era. Wonderfully genteel, with so many great touches, (the candles on each table? Superb!!) (But with a great modern extension.) Food was wonderful, beers in great condition. I'd love this place as a local, (which is my highest recommendation of a pub.)

Lovely atmosphere for a family meal, beautifully decorated, superb food and great mulled wine beforehand. The staff were friendly, good service and you are allowed to eat at your leisure with no time limitations

Had a quick 1 night stop here due to a Christmas function being held at another. From arrival the Inn was welcoming, staff were friendly and the warmth and smell of the log fire in the bar gave it such a homely feel. The room we had was small and quirky but it was clean, comfortable and warm. We managed... More
