I gave this 4 stars, because for the area, you can't beat the location. This is an older lodge, in the middle of a state park.: we went for the hiking & to relax. This is not a luxury hotel, but we knew that going in, so there weren't any surprises. Check in was fine, all of the staff members... more

We recently stay at the Lodge and had a wonderful visit! The lodge was very clean and our room was very nice. The decor fits the surroundings of the State Park. Our kids enjoyed the large pool and swam for a long time. We did stay in the newer part right off the pool which was very nice. We also... more

If you want to get back to nature and feel like you are back decades in time, then this is the place. I come back year after year to this wonderful state park. It is a gem that is so close to Chicago. The hotel is older but retains its charm. Don't expect 5 star quality, but expect a great... more

The negative reviews almost scared me away...I"m glad I ignored them because I had a lovely time. I think your experience depends upon what you're seeking, and your expectations. If you want a 5-star luxury hotel with an upscale bartender, go back to Chicago. If you want to spend some time with nature, this is your place. Yes, the bathroom... more

We stayed one night at the Starved Rock lodge this week. Our overnight stay was part of the two day Spirit of Peoria riverboat cruise. We had a room on the first floor of the old part of the lodge. The room was clean, had a king bed, desk, flat screen TV, and table and chairs. We had plenty of... more

My husband and I stayed at the lodge for our honeymoon. We couldn't have had a better stay and plan on going back for our one year. Reviewers must remember that this is a lodge...not a grand hotel. Lodges shouldn't be all about how well they can dazzle you...at least in my mind. A lodge is for a getaway...and that... more

We stayed in the West Wing at the Starved Rock Lodge for a weekend, and really enjoyed ourselves. The Lodge does have a few problems, but overall it was pretty nice and very convenient. I'll try and list the pros and cons of the Lodge. Pros: Room was nice, clean, comfortable beds. Staying at the lodge made it convenient for... more

"Okay, but some problems" easily sums up my experience staying here. First: the hotel is quite expensive for what you get. For $150/night, I expect a comfortable bed; clean, soft linens; furniture that is in good condition; continental breakfast (or at least free coffee). The beds here are old and basic, the linens didn't fit quite right and were very... more

Looking at the previous reviews, I can only shake my head. If you come to Starved Rock Lodge and base your reviews on how well they mix your drinks, you're missing the point. My family has been coming here since before my existence. My grandparents, now long gone- came here in the 1930s for chaperoned group dates. The pull of... more
