The lodge is dated but very clean. This is not the place to go if you are expecting anything more than the basics. That being said, the staff were very accommodating especially the activities staff. Also be advised that the toiletries provided are shampoo and soap so be sure to bring everything else. Lodge is perfect for enjoying the outdoors... More

A trip to Starved Rock State Park in Utica, IL is not to be missed! A great little gem of a park and lodge. Accommodations were comfortable in the small cabins off from the pool which we chose for the privacy and quiet. The room is dark though so bring an extra light if you have an LED lamp available.... The lodge itself is beautiful! We love the rustic look of the huge stone fireplace in the middle of the room. Check in was easy and locating our room, which was on the original side of the lodge, was easy. Our room, on the other hand, was very dark because of all the old knotty pine wood used on the... More

We're so glad you enjoyed your visit to Starved Rock. Our pot roast is truly a guest favorite. Have you ever enjoyed lunch on the Veranda? The view of the scenic Illinois River Valley is amazing. Hope you come back and see us again when warm weather returns. The park looks different every time I go hiking. Frozen waterfalls can... More

Visited in late ?January, midweek. Stayed in a cabin. Cabin was very warm, plenty of wood for the fireplace and very cozy and clean. Ate meals in the dining room and they were beyond our expectations. Served warm and fresh and plenty of it. Pot roast was just like my grandmother's! Used the pool and hot tub. Pool was a... More

We have stayed here many times. One of our favorites in both Summer & Winter. Normally crowded with families and good activities scheduled. Great scenic views. HOWEVER, not a place for a quiet (or romantic) getaway.

We were traveling with an infant, a 5 y.o., and grandparents. The cabins were rustic, just what we wanted, but clean with modern and nice bathroom, standard but nice. The lodge is a bout 200 yards from the cabins. The pool is older but still fine. I would stay again.

Back to the mid-west for my fathers 96th birthday. We always stay at Dad's house, but this year it was a little to crowded so we booked a few days at the lodge. We go there each year for lunch but have not stayed there since our honeymoon.33 years ago. It was fabulous. The rooms are rustic, yet modern. The... More

My wife and I like to get away from Chicago about every winter up to Starved Rock Lodge. If you time things right, you might be able to catch a couple dozen bald eagles within a short hike of the lodge. The small bar in the back is a great place for a few beers, playing the juke box, and... More

My husband and I met my parents here for a four day weekend in early November. We stayed in the historic wing, which had an old, rustic feel to it. My parents were originally in a handicapped accessible room, but it was extremely small (and oddly shaped) in comparison to the regular room my husband I were in. The front... More

We overnighted at the Lodge while taking a fall birding cruise on the Spirit of Peoria. I had not been to this park since I was about 8 years old. This place is done in the old style grand lodge theme. Large dining room, feels like when you were a kid and not everything was a franchise. Of course the... More
