To start, I booked 2 sites 5 weeks in advance and specified that we wanted 2 sites next to each other. At that time, we were told "No problem." When we arrived we were told "We don't have assigned sites, its first come first serve." We were also limited to what sites we could choose from, which later that evening,... More

After searching different campgrounds in the area, Hickory Hollow seemed like the perfect place for our family to stay for our little getaway to Utica. Even though there were several bad reviews about too many rules and rude staff, we still decided stay. I really don't mind if rules are enforced when we have a little girl, but WAS a... More

We stayed here for one night while traveling. We were little hesitant due to some of the reviews, but we are glad we stayed. The staff was very friendly, and told us that they do enforce ALL the rules. The rules are no different than all other campgrounds, but they are actually enforced. We had our 2 dogs with us,... This would be nice campground if not for the hostile check in. As it was so bad, I must warn folks to consider other campgrounds. The hostility makes for an unpleasant stay. The park has so much going for it otherwise with nice sites, some with concrete pads.

First yes the campground was very clean. Office staff were very rude and made the stay very unpleasant. I felt like we were being babysat all weekend. Camping is suppose to be relaxing and enjoyable, the old lady in the office made it very difficult. We would never come back here again.

All of the negative reviews on here are 100% accurate. We stayed for one night, and we were yelled at for playing music from my phone, which we turned off. The next morning, we were accused of stealing a wooden pallet and throwing chairs into the pool. We literally had no idea what these people were talking about. Then they... More

We've been there a few times over the years and never experienced rude staff, but will agree it is an average campground. Being close to I-80 does not bring the quiet natural camping experience, but I also felt that way when staying at Starved Rock SP. However, if you want cabins, pool, playground, game room, and full RV hook-ups; I'd... More

I just returned from my second trip to this campground. My first experience was two years ago. On my first experience, I was not impressed with their level of customer service. The people at the front desk were very matter of fact. Not very welcoming, not rude but certainly not happy to welcome us to their campground. They have more... More
