This building on a tree-lined side street near downtown Urbana immediately draws attention with the beauty of its facade. Its covered front porch makes a peaceful place to sit and read or contemplate. I stayed in the third-floor room. It's vast, with a sitting area, a kitchenette, and a perfectly appointed bathroom. There's lots of water pressure despite the top-floor... More

I had a last minute stay in Urbana for which I wanted an affordable stay. Sylvia's Irish Inn met that minimum requirement but provided so much more. Sylvia and Ernie are wonderful people who run this historic and beautiful building as a labor of love. Top notch made-to-order baked egg breakfast with fresh fruit cup. A wonderful back patio with... We travel the B1G and stay in B&B's whenever we can. Our week-end at Sylvia's Irish Inn was terrific. We were in the Red Room. It is large, well lit, and has a fabulous bed. It is also very quiet. We had an excellent night's sleep both nights. The price for our stay was extremely reasonable. The breakfasts were huge... More

We stayed a couple of nights while going to the Elnora Guitar Festival.. Sylvia and Ernie are quite a couple. They balance each other nicely! The house was very clean and interesting. So much to look at. There is a beautiful front porch and wonderful privacy garden with tables and a fire pit in the back. I had the feeling... More

I stayed here for three nights when I visited University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. This B&B is very very beautiful and the restrooms are always clean. I like green street which is full of trees and lovely houses. I think this area is safe and nice. Thank you for giving me such a wonderful memory. I love Sylvia's breakfast. (I... More

I had the pleasure of staying at Sylvia's last weekend on a business trip. It is the ideal b&b: clean, peaceful, real, and very relaxing. The breakfast was out of this world and the hospitality was fantastic, traditional, and worth every penny. If I'm ever in C-U again, this is where I will stay. (Please take note: If you are... More

My husband and I, plus two other couples, recently spent a weekend in Champaign-Urbana, visiting our alma mater, U of I, for Homecoming. We stayed at this B&B and enjoyed it tremendously. Our rooms were comfortable and clean. The breakfasts were delicious and sumptuous. Plus, Sylvia and her husband Ernie were hospitable, friendly, and helpful. We would definitely stay here... More

This was a wonderful lodging experience during a professional visit to the University of Illinois. Sylvia is very nice, even nicer than her fictional version, Celia, in Orly Castel-Bloom's wonderful story "Avodah" (work). The two dogs are also cute!

We stayed at Sylvia's Irish Inn on our way home from visiting family. It was small, cozy, and comfortable. We met a wonderful family from Chicago who were attending Sylvia's music camp. Sylvia has invited my son to come and play a house concert (he's a violinist) and she would pay him! Sylvia was great, the breakfast was marvelous (peach... More
