In August, I spent 10 days in this beautiful home. I cannot find words to discribe the quality of service I received. The rooms are huge, the place is immaculate, the hospitability is difficult to be found anywhere else. The breakfast that Gloria prepares is at least a $30 value dinner in a good restaurants. I reccommend this B&B to... more

We loved this B&B . We loved the location and the lovely morning breakfast. We loved the fact that Akademika is a house built in 1924, nicely upgraded by Gloria and her husband to give it a lot of character. We attended a seminar that was held in the Illini Union. From Akademika everything was in walking distance and the... more

Recently stayed at Akademika for four nights on a business trip to Urbana/Champaign. The B&B was excellent, Gloria was very courteous and professional, and the location was perfect to all I need do. As a woman traveling alone, I felt very safe and comfortable. Would return again (and hope soon) and stay here. I recommend it.. This B&B is very... more

Stayed there twice because of the location and ONLY because of the location. We were treated like we were going to steal something. A member of the family was always present in the living room. AND would just look at us. Only the lady talked. Lots of rules!! Had to take off shoes right at door. COLD floor and entrance... more

As you might expect, the inn is located right on campus which is good for me because I was going to my son's graduation ceremony. I never found myself walking very far to where I needed to go. I've had the typical bagel and coffee breakfast at hotels on business trips before, so I was pleasantly surprised to see a... more

I have just spent three great nights at the Akademika. I would agree with all of the positive comments made by other reviewers. It is a beautiful, well maintained and extremely welcoming place. The family who run it could not be nicer. They are attentive and generous without being intrusive. As with all good B&B's it is the simple things... more

My husband and I stayed here in late February, as I had an interview at the University the next day. We stayed in the Rainbow Suite on the third floor. Gloria keeps a PRISTINE house. Everything was wonderfully maintained and well furnished...there was even a laptop for us to use in the room! She's a great cook and extremely friendly,... more

I had a great time at this B&B. Friendly owners, nice place, very neat, excellent breakfast. Also, do not try to ask for a discount, the owner is not to interested in renting her rooms unless you are able to afford them. more
