We travel to DeKalb once or twice a year, and this is the best hotel we've stayed in there. It's a pretty standard Holiday Inn Express: clean, decent-sized and attractive rooms, free breakfast, small pool. The location isn't that convenient to any "attractions" in either DeKalb or Sycamore, but if you have a car you can get anywhere you want... more

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express at 1935 Dekalb Ave, Sycamore, Il 60178 on March 21, 2009. We stayed there because we were at the state gymnastic meet at Northern Illinois University. Stayed here for one Sunday night. Check in pleasant, easy to find the room. Our suite had everthing that was required for a stay short or long term. Clean, comfortable and well equiped. As normal the breakfast was the usual HIE affair but we didn't stay for that. Easy to find and there are a few amenities over the road.... more

Stayed here for my daughter's graduation from NIU...The staff was nice, the rooms were very clean and lots of pillows with different firmness! Great location, not far from NIU (5-10 min) good restaurants close by. Didn't get to sample the breakfast (too busy) I stayed on the top, 3rd, floor by the carpeted stairwell but it was very quiet even... more

Other than location, not much to write home about. Staff wasn't very friendly, a/c didn't work (had to get maintenance to fix it), wireless didn't work for about half a day, breakfast was pretty sorry.
