Peaceful location yet close to Amsterdam if you want the craziness. We visited in Oct. 2014 and loved it so much we returned in April 2015. Pamela remembered that my husband only drank certain juices for breakfast and she was ready with them when we returned in April. It helps to be prepared before you go into Amsterdam: museum tix,... We spent three nights at the Inn on the Lake last week. The house has been beautifully renovated and is wonderfully comfortable. We'd booked the Red Room which was very roomy and comfortable with a mini bar, safe, and ensuite with bath and shower. It is situated on the first floor which is reached by an original winding Dutch staircase,... More

My wife and I stayed at the Inn for 3 days (2 nights) beginning of May 2015. It was wonderful. Pamela took care of everything we needed. We had our family dog (labrador) with us who also had a great time playing with owners family dog Basil (what a cutie). Just one small tip for the dog owners. Taupe Room... More

Thank you so much for your review. And we are so glad you enjoyed your visit. Because we have had such a cold and blistering spring the floor heating was still on in your room when you stayed. We have turned it off and now the dogs do not get overheated or feel uncomfortable. We will be looking forward to... More

I was at the Inn on the Lake for 2 days during the first week of May. The place is even better than it looks like in pictures. Quiet, beautiful, kind of fairy tale location, perfect for families but also for couples looking for a romantic escape. Pamela and her family are very gentle and precise. The room was beautiful, neat... More

Firstly, we booked through Mr&Mrs Smith hotels which refused to upload our review about this property because it had some negativities. So the reviews on Mr&Mrs Smith's website are, by our experience, biased heavily towards only showing the good. I challenge Mr&Mrs Smith to go public on this. As for the In on the Lake, it is in a quiet,... More

We are astonished by your review. Knowing that you were a news(paper) reporter I understand that you are aware of freedom of speech. But giving wrong and twisted information could and can cause it to backfire. Luckily Trip Advisor gives us the opportunity to reply to your criticisms. Thank you so much to Pamela and her husband for a wonderful stay I had with them! The Inn is very very close to Amsterdam and is very easy to get to and from the city! The room is great and the breakfast (that was different 2 nights I stayed) was absolutely delicious! I will stay again no doubt!

What a wonderful venue to recover from a transatlantic flight and be introduced to Amsterdam whilst staying in the beautiful countryside. Pamela and Karel are the consummate hosts and so helpful with every detail. We had camera problems and they researched where to go for us. They go above and beyond what is expected. Delicious breakfasts ( healthy too) overlooking... More

Awesome place. Nice friendly warm staff. Great food. Very relaxed. Stunning views. We wished we stayed here longer than the 3 days. But we'll worth every penny. Monica showed us where to go and eat shop sightsee. Gave us bus tram passes. Can't thank them enough for a wonderful stay. We will be back soon. Thank you.

The Inn on the Lake must be the most exquisite small guest house in Europe! Only a few minutes on buses that seem to run every three minutes into Central Station in Amsterdam, the small well kept village of Broek in Waterland (with its 53 listed buildings) makes an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle (and cost!) of Amsterdam....
