We were visiting the area and as it was nearly lunch time popped into the restaurant for an early lunch We opted for a full English breakfast with coffee instead of tea. It was cold so we went into the lounge where there was a roaring fire which warmed us up nicely. We were immediately given a cafetiere of really... More

The homemade soup in this quirky tea room was superb and the owner was really nice. The day we called was in the winter and we were surprised to find the tea room open. The owner was very welcoming and she went out of our way to make us feel comfortable.

I would like to offer my thanks to the proprietors of the Estate House in Ford for my very pleasant and fulfilling stay. The bedrooms are very clean and spacious and the breakfast well you couldn't ask for more. A full English breakfast is what you ask for and certainly what you receive. The scrambled egg is particularly creamy and... More

The tearoom at the estate house is wonderful. It's cosy and like sitting in a small sitting room with a great roaring fire. Food is wonderful and home made to order. Wonderful friendly hosts. Very dog friendly and made most welcome with treats. Highly recommended.

Welcoming, friendly hosts; spacious room with thick carpet; large, thick towels; two comfortable easy chairs (not supplied in many places); mugs, fresh milk and hot chocolate on the tea tray (hooray for no long-life milk); hot water bottle; Craster kippers for breakfast. The list goes on - not a fault to find.

We (myself, my wife, and 9 year old son) stayed at the Estate House for 5 nights in October 2014. I can only say it is the most wonderful place to spend a holiday. The owner's daughter Sam was in charge during our stay and was simply the most friendly, helpful, accommodating person you could hope to meet. The house... More

Dropped by here this afternoon having walked in the September sunshine along the river from Heatherslaw Mill. It was 10 to 5 (long after many tea-rooms etc have shut in our experience - never have quite understood that but that's another story....) - and we were welcomed by the staff to take tea in the lovely peaceful garden with it's... Spent a night in the family room at this lovely B&B with our kids. The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating, the hospitality tray was very generous (kids loved the inclusion of hot chocolate - and the little jar of sweets in the room!) and fresh milk was provided without asking. The room was a good size (not always the... More

Visited after walking the Ford Moss trail. Very laid back but attentive service. Had Ham egg and chips and a Burger and chips. Nice thick slices of ham, well cooked egg with runny yolk, chips were crisp and golden. Burger was nice served with a generous salad. Kids just had carrot cake (nice and moist) and a cookie. Tea in... More
