We stayed here for a family reunion in July. Like a normal summer in Southern Illinois it was hot and humid. The pool is inside with a nice patio around it. There are outdoor activities (sand volleyball, horseshoes, fishing, a nice deck and pond). We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel (breakfast was included with the room). Food was... More

I was shocked by the reviews claiming horrible management and poor service because our experience with Magnuson Grand Hotel management and staff was exactly the opposite. All management and staff were amazing! They were extremely helpful, courteous, hard-working, and responsive to our needs. The events manager, hotel manager, and head chef, as well as other staff, went above and beyond... More

I had my wedding and reception here. The hotel events coordinator was very nice and helpful in the beginning and even convinced me to change my wedding date in order have my wedding and reception and here. 7 weeks before my wedding I received a phone call from her stating they had not receiving our menu for the dinner. We... More

We booked several rooms for family members (around 50 people) for out wedding on sep. 14. The family's loved the rooms but when we went to eat was a whole different story. One waiter/ buser for all of us. Several of us went with out drinks and had to clean our own tables off to make room for food. There... More

I returned to this property for the first time since last summer. Trip was for business. This time I got a room away from the pool and it was very quiet. The bed was much more comfortable than the one I had last year. Shower pressure was good and I liked the body soap dispenser in the shower. Very limited... More

We booked six rooms for family members for a funeral in the nearby town. The hotel's indoor pool and game room was great for the many children in our group. They had poolside adjoining rooms for us, so everyone could come and go as they chose. Supper in the restaurant was reasonable and delicious. The free breakfast was good, though... More

Hidden gem in the middle of nowhere. We have stayed here several times when it was a Best Western. Staff friendliness significantly improved from those days! Dated interior, but an amazing deal if you are in the area.

I recently stayed here for one night as I was visiting a customer in nearby Carlinville. As far as convenience goes...its right off the expressway and is easy to get in and out of. There is plenty of parking and check in was quick and easy. I didn't use the pool, but there was a very nice indoor pool. I... More

My husband and I stayed at the Magnuson Grand Hotel two nights and were pleased with our time there. The a/c didn't work in our first room so we were quickly moved to another one. The room was clean, the bed and pillows were comfortable, the grounds were beautifully manicured, and the staff was very friendly. The free breakfast was... More

Wife and I have stayed here a few times. Several stays were before it became a Magnuson property. As time went by the rooms got more and more worn. Not dirty, just getting worn out. Needs remodling badly. On our last stay about a year ago we were told that Magnuson had plans to remodel. In house restaurant is very... More
