Great little spot with hidden treasures around each corner. Now back known as the Plough. Friendly pub with great local patronageand very helpful staff. Highly recommend staying in the newly renovated rooms.

What used to be called The Trout Inn is now The Plough so please do not take on board what was reviewed prior to July 2014! This is an excellent B&B/Pub/Restaurant I stayed here with two work colleagues and the service/food was incredible. Very friendly and happy staff, food excellent, rooms very clean and comfortable, lovely decor. Will definitely return... More

We decided to visit this pub as they have recently changed management and gone through a massive change in decoration. What we found was excellent service, wonderful atmosphere and most importantly food and wine were superior. We will be back.

Firstly trip advisor this pub is now called the plough and has had a dramatic make over into what can only be described as a gastronomic haven. Service was friendly, warm and welcoming. The food was excellent, especially the pork belly lightly crisped with bread crumbs. I have never had capers with pork belly but the acidity cut through the... More

No milk in room, coffee was old granules in a cup that were stuck together from wet spoons being dipped in,Tea bags were catering variety dumped in a bowl.No milk had to ask for that. Shower dysfunctional, no heating in any part of the building, water streaming down our bedroom windows in the morning with a pool sitting on the window ledge.... More

We stopped in for a drink at this nice looking pub. Three staff on board but only one serving. Glass for my beer was stacked for washing and got rinsed out with a bit of cold water before getting a cloudy pint of beer being pulled into it. Did not drink the beer and as no management at hand we... More

Not a bad price for Winchester and the staff were friendly and helpful, sadly the good things stopped there. The room was basic and dated and could do with a thorough redecorate. Windows covered with cobwebs and there was a general impression of grubbiness about the place. I'm not sure if the electrics in the room met modern safety standards,... More

We were welcomed warmly on our arrival by a lovely man (who I think was called john).the rooms were clean and comfortable. The highlight of our quiet country getaway was sitting by the lovely fire and having a real ale and excellent home cooked food. I would recommend this to my friends who want a country pub and friendly atmosphere.

Called into The Trout on the off chance on a Wednesday, which happens to be curry night. Choice of three curries and a small wine or beer for £10, which was not only delicious and filling, but excellent value for money too. Staff were welcoming and attentive and the pub was cosy with fires roaring and candles lit. We'll definitely... More

Winchester-expensive place to stay. Up pops The Trout Inn, £45 a night food a bit pricy but what the hell. Pork belly delicious, shame about bisto gravy! THE ROOM - It's clean but very dated, rough finish to say the least, cobwebs galour. ramshackle furniture. bathroom very aged 80's shower cubicle, turn on the shower and it literally dribbles, so...
