We stayed in Caboose #4, Sunday through Tuesday. We've never visited the park previously. Pros: 1. We had the whole park to ourselves, even kind of felt like we were in an episode of The Walking Dead, lol, it was a ghost town. 2. The caboose was clean and had absolutely NO bugs (which we thought was odd because of... More

We went here on free admission day it was a lot of fun we were able to see the Bison feeding on corn right by the overlook. We have been here before but never took the trail to see all of the other animals. We had a lot of fun on the trail seeing the other animals and the children's... More

The cabin on the hill is a restful retreat. Pack as you would to go camping, not staying in a hotel. Be advised: there is a flight of stairs. Before it gets dark, flip the lightswitch on the pole at the foot of the stairs, so you can see at night. Bring your own kitchen linens and dishsoap. Bring your... More

The caboose was dirty and had an awful urine odor. The sheets on the beds were thin and would not stay on the beds..The idea and location was wonderful but was not maintained.. we took our grandchildren and I felt guilty letting them sleep in those conditions.

If you are an animal lover this is the perfect place to visit and stay. It is just outside of town an easy 10 to 20 minute drive into Peoria or East Peoria. We stayed right in the park. The accommodations were not fancy but they were clean and comfortable. We saw wild deer every day we were there in... More

There is so much to do at this park! There are many animals in their natural habitat, all of which are indigenous to Illinois, as well as reptiles and birds, in exhibits where they are easily observable. There is also hiking, fishing, mountain biking, and lots of special events. You can even stay overnite in a variety of different kinds... More

We went there last Saturday to participate in their annual Olde English Faire. We left Schaumburg at 6 am and got there exactly at 9am when they opened. We had time to look around and had a family meeting to prioritize our visit. We got to ride their mini train to the North and South loops. We saw animals like black... More

Visited this weekend with two other couples - we rented three of the four cabooses for two nights - each couple had a 4/5 year old boy crazy about trains. The kids were beyond excited. Kind of a cross between a hotel stay and camping. (We go tent camping, so we're a bit more used to roughing it.) The cabooses... More

The Cabin on the Hill is a perfect location to unplug, unwind and relax. The cabin has 1 double bed, 2 twin beds and a small sleeping cushion. There is a table and 4 chairs. The kitchen has a microwave, hotplate, dorm size refrigerator and coffee pot. You will need to bring your own plates, cups, silverware, pots/pans and a... More

As members of this park, a few times a year we stay at the park in the cabooses they've converted into rooms. They arent huge, but for two its just right, small tv, microwave and fridge. right next ot a pond to fish in. we also like the grain bins that are rooms too. support wildlife everyone
