My husband and I wanted a quiet get away to celebrate our fifth year anniversary away from the kids. We found it! Weren't sure what to expect and we're a little worried about sharing a bathroom but we lucked out because we ended up not having to. And even if we did, the farmhouse is just so homey i dont... My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed out three night stay at Charlotte's wonderful B&B in July, 2013. The house is beautiful and very comfortable. We got every encouragement to make it our home for the days we were there. Charlotte (the innkeeper) is very kind, thoughtful and pleasant to visit with as well that we will definitely look forward to... More

Fox River B & B is a perfect getaway! I live in Chicago; it's a short trip (hour and a half) from the city. The owner is so welcoming and makes you feel right at home as soon as you pull in. Any stress you're carrying with you will melt away. Plenty to do nearby - canoe, kayak, or hiking... More

We chose the Fox River B&B for its proximity to Starved Rock State Park, and for the history of staying in Charles Lindbergh's Room. The home and the hostess (Charlotte) were both warm and welcoming. We were a bit concerned about sharing a bathroom, but this really was not an issue as we were the only guests on the 2nd... More

We had our wedding in July at the Fox River B&B and it was a wonderful experience. Charlotte, the owner, was like having a wedding planner on hand. She made sure everything ran smoothly. We had 85+ guests and the Inn is beautiful. Little decoration was needed. Our wedding party was able to stay at the Inn the entire weekend.... More

Been there last weekend and - I liked it very much. It's a secluded house, homey arranged and I felt like sleeping over my aunts house. The air is great, its peaceful and very very clean. Usually when I go to hotels, I don't have that feeling of cleanliness like in my own home, but here, I felt really safe.... More

We were looking for a B&B near the I&M Canal Bike trail. This was convenient for that (just a short drive), and darn close to Starved Rock and Matthiessen State Parks. Also must be the nearest spot to SkyDive Chicago. and C&M Canoe rental (and perhaps the Wedron Grill facory if you have business with them.) All five of the... More

My wife and I stayed for 8 nights this July and were very impressed with the bnb. Charlotte is the new owner and Bobby Joe is not involved anymore. Charlotte was very helpful and friendly. She cooks excellent breakfasts with fresh muffins, bacon and eggs from her hens. The rooms were clean and very comfortable. We did not eat dinner... More

I was impressed with our stay at Fox River Bed and Breakfast! The most impressive hosts I have met in years of travel. As I read in a couple of reviews, Bobby Joe is quite entertaining. You are going to get an eye and ear full during your stay. The food was excellent and the place was clean and very... More

I agree w/the author of "Strange Times" - the reviews posted here are dated! Maria is no longer there and Bobbie Joe is an ever-present host who never once wore shoes EVER! This is the last place you want to stay for a romantic getaway - it is even hard to get to talk with other guests because Bobbie Joe's... More
