A nice property, enjoyed our room. Breakfast one of the best we ever had at a B&B. Upon one issue, we expressed concern about it, but we received what nearly felt like a lecture from one of the owners about recent expenses put into their property maintenance. Too much information on our vacation and we just desired a solution, not... More

The Brightwood Inn was built as a B & B and it shows. The bedrooms are all large as are the bathrooms. Each room has a gas fireplace. There are several common areas, all comfortable and supplied with drinks (non-alcoholic), games, books and music. Cookies are usually available. Though breakfast is only served for an hour, the sweets and savories were... More

Me and my wife's first stay at a B&B and we loved everything about the Brightwood Inn. Sharon and Kevin were very hospitable. Delicious breakfast was very much appreciated. Sharon took time with us to set us in the direction of beautiful local sights but we could have sat around and talked to her all day. It was our first... More

Perfect place to get away and stay near Starved rock. The rooms are clean and the Whirlpool in the Merrimac room was great fun with some bubble bath. The pillows were comfortable and ones I wanted to take home. The bed was perfect sleeping. The well water is available as reverse osmosis water in the first floor. Free soda in... More

Our recent two-day stay was our first bed-and-breakfast experience, and so our expectations were ill-formed at best. As it turned out, we were the only guests in this small inn for the two days, so we acquired only a somewhat limited sense of the real experience. We felt slightly guilty that the entire place was up and running for just... More

After a long day of Hiking in Starved Rock this B&B was the perfect place to rest and relax. We stayed at the Turkey Run Room. The room was beautiful and clean, the hosts were extremely friendly and welcoming and they thought of every single detail. The breakfast was absolutely delicious! Check out was at 11 which seemed a little... More

Thank you for the great review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and look forward to your coming back. We do try very hard to make your stay the best it can be. We pride ourselves on our breakfasts. With all the food restrictions, intolerance's and allergies it can be tricky to make everyone happy. Regarding our checkout... More

From the time my wife and I stepped foot in the door...there was an elder lady who didn't even greet us but looked at us as if we didn't belong. I did notice most of the cliental were elderly but Im sure younger couples have stayed here as well. Wasn't horrific but when your spending $200 for a "one room"... More

Stayed here on a Friday night for our five year anniversary. It was perfect for what we needed. Close to the state parks, wine tasting, canoeing, and plenty of dining options within fifteen mins drive. Hosts were great and very personable. Rooms were clean and comfy. Breakfast was great! Never thought I'd like granola so much... With their Greek yogurt...... More

My wife & I enjoyed a two-weeknight stay at the Brightwood Inn. The proprietors, John & Jo, were welcoming & friendly and served a delicious breakfast each day; it's the first B&B we've booked that offered a choice from two hot entrees each morning. [Just be sure to advise the hosts on any food allergies in your party.] The afternoon... More

I've stayed in several inns in Europe and the Brightwood Inn although they label themselves a B&B, runs more like a small inn. This is not a bad thing. After reading the reviews, I can see why others felt the service was lacking but really it's just different than a typical B&B where the owners live in the house and... More
