My wife and I travel from Oklahoma and now Colorado to oak park for doctors visits. We use to like staying at the write inn until now, we should have listened to the warnings. We checked in on Feb 19th, checked out Feb 21st. During this time we stayed on the third floor and clear at the other end of... More

Great location and price but there are some issues that need updating. The bed and furniture in our room was at least 20 years old if not older. However the bathroom and the kitchenette area with the fridge and the microwave looked practically new. We would stay there again.

While this hotel is a bit dated, it was sufficient and a great location for walking around the historic Oak Park area and walking to the train station to get into downtown Chicago. The exterior and main interior areas of the hotel are fine. The room itself needs updating. On the one hand, the furnishings were meant to evoke "antique",... More

I just stayed at the Write Inn for three days last week. I have never written a hotel review before, but feel compelled to write one now since I want to give fair warning to other people. This hotel is in need of renovation which is obviously not being done; instead of shabby chic, it is just plain shabby with... More

Arriving at the Oak Park Inn I should have heeded the minatory scene in the foyer before even entering the hotel proper: a corner of the ceiling had sustained water damage and the powdery, discolored, peeling plaster was falling and accumulating in a pile on the floor. Our first room on the first floor was somewhat shabby and smelly. At... More

We had a three night stay while attending a family celebration. The location was great as all activities were within walking distance. The hotel was built in the 1920s and although it has been renovated, some problems exist if you are elderly or disabled. The bathrooms have a high entry step. One room the step was more than 6 inches... More

I had such a great experience at the Write Inn on my last visit to Chicago a few years ago that I didn't hesitate to make a reservation there during this trip. My husband and I spent two nights at the Write Inn, and the place is definitely as wonderful as I remembered. If you're visiting Oak Park, you can't... More

It was with reserve that I took a room here for 4 days after reading many other reviews that were unfavorable. I really wanted to be in Oak Park though. Many of the comments spoke of old and tired (true) and an annoying 3 block walk to park (true.) Being a literary sort, I figured Hemingway’s Santiago would never complain... More

Decided on a whim to go back to Seaside for Memorial Day weekend to do some razor clamming, so called Sandy Cove Inn and got the Beach room again. The grandkids just love the decor! The staff there is ALWAYS friendly and helpful. Having the little market right across the street is great because we can get milk, cereal and... More
