Most reviews seem pretty on point. The Place is charming, the outside is a little better shape than inside. We were greeted immediately by the bell staff who took our luggage to our room which was on the first floor, with a few steps up. The room was a suite that faced the beautiful courtyard. The bath was very small.... More

Stayed overnight as I have done periodically over the past 40 years. Very expensive, but convenient location and lovely terrace/gardens. But, got breakfast voucher and then found service stopped 1 hr earlier than posted time with no notice. No one available to help with my bags as there was a wedding in progress (as usual). Room was quiet and clean... More

I just completed a stay of 3 nights at the Deer Path Inn. Yes, the historic hotel is a bit faded around the edges and in need of some updating, but the service is professional and truly based in the desire to please. I was unfortunate to be struck be a terrible flu bug during my stay. While I stayed... More

My husband and I stayed here on a 3 night trip to visit family. It was booked for us by a family member, so we did no research prior to our arrival. And being in "Lake Forest", we expected luxury and elegance. Not so! The hotel is charming enough from the outside and certainly has character. But the room (#228)... More

If your moving to Lake Forest from the West Coast as we did; a cultural shock as you make the adjustment from a life in the Pacific Northwest to one in a more traditonal section of the country, certainly more than the urban lifestyle of Seattle. The Deer Path is the perfect place to make the transition easier while waiting... More

I can't write enough positive about Deer Path Inn. Went to a baby shower there today for my daughter-in-law held in the Hearth Room, Delicious food, wonderful atmosphere and the most attentive service. Love the classic old charming feel of an old Inn! If you are not one who enjoys this atmosphere you would still find the gardens of the... More

An old hotel that has kept its old fashioned charm, including an elevator with sliding gate closure. Spacious room, a bit worn around the seams. Very comfortable bed. Nice breakfast. Right in the heart of downtown Lake Forest, with many cute shops and restaurants within a block or two of walking, and a Metra Train station within 2 blocks to... More

My wife and I stayed here last summer for a friends wedding. I'm kind of surprised by the mediocre reviews here, we thought the Deer Path Inn was pretty cool though I am a sucker for anything old. I thought this place was pretty ideal for a wedding reception (especially the outdoor area during the cocktail hour) and it was... More

A nice antique, traditional hotel in a beautiful area. Nice facilities such as patio, restaurant, wooden details. Not near downtown but it is located in a very fancy area of Lake Forest. Often used by corporations and also couples for honey moon.

My 85 year old parents stayed at this hotel the night of their grandson's wedding. The next morning when they were at brunch a diamond wedding ring and diamond cross were taken from the room. We reported the theft to the hotel manager when we discovered the jewelry was missing. The manager did not help, my sister also made several... More
